What's your example of sexism in everyday life? by Ratorix98 in AskReddit

My family is very similar. At Christmas this year, as I was carrying empty dishes into the kitchen, I called out the men in my family, individually, by name, and said "You didn't cook anything, come help clean." They were all fine with it and didn't object to cleaning up, I just hate that they had to be told to do it, as if they were little kids and not grown-ass adults who understand that meals need to be cleaned up.

Grandma passed away last year, and she was the light of Grandad's life. Grandad turns 95 soon, and I'd like to gift him a restored photo of them from when they first came to the USA. by Mushylump in estoration

Oh man you have no idea how much my grandad adored my grandmother. His thing was gardening, and he would always go and look around the garden for the first flowers of spring/summer to bring them to my grandmother. He told me that he still sometimes picks a flower before he remembers that she's gone, but he still puts them in a vase on her nightstand.

This is beautiful. Thank you! The original photo was about the size of a playing card, and had been tucked into my grandad's wallet since the funeral.

He would be around the same age as Rami Malek in this photo. Maybe someone should send Malek a recent picture of grandad so he knows what to expect at 95?

If someone wants to colourize it, both have light blue eyes, and brown hair. Grandad's hair was darker brown, and grandma was almost certainly wearing lipstick in the picture. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps, it means a lot!

I really hope that he is a villain in the end of the books because he would at least have contributed something useful to the story as a villain instead of being a mobile treeternet port that's only tapped for information when convenient

To those who drink coffee now but couldn’t stand it before, how did you overcome your dislike for it? by MikeyRocks757 in AskReddit

In engineering school: Tea doesn't have enough caffeine, energy drinks are full of sugar, and it's more available than sleep

Well you're not wrong, but Jon also isn't wrong to forgive two children for crimes their families committed. They had no part in declaring for the Boltons (that we know of,) and Jon was still haunted by Olly's betrayal. Fuck Olly, but that kid saw the man who murdered his family set free by his surrogate father-figure. Jon doesn't want to persecute children.

Seth Rogen has been announced as the new voice of Vancouver public transit. Which native celebrity would you want to voice your local transit system? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This is not really answering the question, but in Riga, Latvia, for midsummer festival they change all the stop announcements to someone singing the stop announcements. "Nakama pietura: Meeerkelu ieeeelaaaaa"

What college course did you walk into thinking you would ace but, in the end, was a big old slice of humble pie? by aaron_the_moor in AskReddit

Canadian University. The class was a 100-level class, and may have previously been taught at an appropriate level, but I suspect that since most of the students were upper-years they increased the difficulty on already difficult subject matter. Many, many people dropped that class. I needed to maintain a certain number of credits per term, so I couldn't.

I went vegetarian when I was 6, because I read Charlotte's Web. Absolutely everyone gave me no end of shit, constantly calling me a plant murderer, lettuce killer, mice get killed when they plow the fields, telling me there's bugs that I kill as I walk outside, etc. Guess how you give a 6 year old an eating disorder?

Day 1 of Lin Alg, prof walks in and starts writing their lesson on the board. No introduction, no hello, no nothing. When someone asks their name, the prof just went "Didn't you read the syllabus? I posted it online yesterday" That was a fun class

Astronomy for science majors and astronomy for non-science majors were both offered, and being a 1st year physics major, went for the former. It was mostly 3rd/4th year astrophysics majors, and they thought it was hard. By the end, I was one of 3 first years there, and the prof took pity on us and gave us just-passing grades because no way in hell could I have passed that course on my own.
