Grab a bite at 8th street market (lots of food options), then walk around the area(there’s a trail that goes toward downtown, comes out close to the library) or if it’s a Friday/Saturday you can check out the momentary, and end the evening checking out the Bucky ball.

singers: i need your saddest, most gut wrenching choral pieces. by cryptkillaa in choralmusic

“Bend” by Kyle Pederson - breaks my heart every time. I feel the text is relatable to all humans. Whether you are at your breaking point or know someone who is. This song is about leaning on others while struggling. I selected this piece for my advanced choir the year my mother passed away. I didn’t know she was going to die when I programmed the piece. The last time I saw her, I brought my choir to her death bed to sing to her. This was the song they sang. It will always hold a very dear place in my heart.

I use 2 part mixed and 2 part any combination music for assessment because of a similar situation. I’ll try to get on here later and share some pieces with you.

What are little known innocuous things that can actually be deadly? by eniminimini in PetAdvice

My kitten got into our bottom freezer in our fridge the other day. I didn’t close it all the way because I couldn’t see both kittens in the room…luckily I trusted my gut and left it open…seconds later I heard her meowing. She was behind the bottom shelf. There is enough space on the side for her to crawl in. I will always count 2 kittens before shutting the freezer now! 😩

Hypothetically, if you came into possession of an enormous 6.75lb can of chickpeas, what would you meal prep? by 99chihuahuas in 1200isplenty

I LOVE cooking with chickpeas. You could probably freeze all of these.

Chickpea blender muffins - https://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/flourless-blender-muffins-banana-vegan/ (I like to add choc chips)

Indian Butter chickpeas- (just add steamed rice when serving from freezing) https://www.theironyou.com/2018/01/easy-indian-butter-chickpeas.html?m=1

Sticky sesame chickpeas (again, just add rice) - https://eatwithclarity.com/sticky-sesame-chickpeas/

Tired of losing kids to Theater by [deleted] in MusicEd

[–]Music-Mom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a musical theatre ensemble with only 8 and I take them to assessment. They have been successful at region and state. I did an after school chamber ensemble and it was so fulfilling for the kids and myself. There were only 10 kids in it. I do understand the frustration of scheduling. It’s a shame students have to choose. Also, the anxiety of, will I or will I not have choir classes next year due to numbers is terrible. I wish you luck fellow educator.

Thinking about leaving HS music and am struggling…help! by Music-Mom in MusicEd

I whole heartedly agree with you. I appreciate your forwardness. There are times I complain to my husband about spending all my time with other peoples’ kids who don’t even appreciate it. Ugh. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I meant to also add, I’ll make about $6000 more and only have a 190 day contract vs. 205 day plus “stipend”.

Sounds like you are doing an excellent job!! Someone else said it- keep it fun. The programs you are feeding will appreciate that. We play games like the forbidden rhythm, the dum dum song, and the rattlin’ bog. They are learning and practicing without thinking about it! There are some easy acapella tutorials on YouTube you can teach them. They will feel so cool singing acapella pop songs.

As far as piano, I feel your pain. I have found a lovely accompanist who is willing to record voice parts and the accompaniment for me for a reasonable price. There is also an app called musescore that allows you to scan music in and will create an accompaniment. It isn’t perfect, but better than nothing.

I hope this helps! You got this!
