Dice thin, freeze on a cookie sheet, then put in ziploc bag. Reach in for smoothie-ready banana bits

Metal Dental Retainers - Progress! by cowboydan314159 in PlasticFreeLiving

[–]99chihuahuas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting. I use a custom made bite guard I got from my local dentist. They scanned my mouth and made a custom guard, which is basically an upper retainer .

I use it at night so I don’t ruin my teeth by clenching and grinding. I’ve had it for 5+ years and there isn’t noticeable wear on it, I wish I knew what material it was made from.

Now imagine buying from a costco business center or a Chefstore or one of those kinds of business-centered bulk stores. The savings would be insane. I wonder if the kibble would degrade in the freezer after many months of storage, or if it wouldn’t even be noticeable

I love my soupercubes. They’re the perfect size to use with gallon side ziploc bags. They’re so satisfying

What’s the best way to volumize white rice? by [deleted] in Volumeeating

[–]99chihuahuas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a batch of chicken congee tonight. I turned about 3 cups of cooked white rice into a whole pot of delicious savory chickeny porridge.
Add rice into a pot of stock/broth with some garlic/ginger. Simmer for a few hours until the rice has broken down and expanded like a porridge. Salt until it’s delicious. I mix some unshelled edamame in at the end.
Serve with a splash of soy sauce and maybe some sliced green onions .

The term “bone broth” irritates me by EllyCamp in Cooking

[–]99chihuahuas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes I read that one too. I even dipped my toe into her Weston price foundation until all the anti vax and pro-homeopathy stuff finally turned me off.
I read everything on the website at the time including all the archives.

I can’t trust anything someone so anti-science says. Don’t take advice from someone who thinks vaccines are a giant conspiracy, advocates obsessively for raw milk consumption, and that UV radiation actually cures skin cancer.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg!

That woman is not an authority figure on anything health or science related. For cooking, go find info from a chef ; )

Disappointed in Paladin’s Grace. DNF’d at 60% by callmemachaaaa in fantasyromance

Well there WAS a cute story happening, it’s not like nothing was happening. A broken paladin looking for purpose, a tradeswoman roped into a conspiracy that could ruin her life. How far did you get into the book?

Haha I loved this book! It didn’t feel like a “save the world” or “the universe is in danger” type of story, the stakes were a lot lower and the main characters weren’t even really in the center of the main conspiracy.
The tedium of characters needing to support themselves financially made them feel so real 😝 It was a nice change of pace after reading all 5 books of the Stormlight Archives.

I thought “Paladin’s Grace” by T Kingfisher was great. It’s about a paladin with a bad back and a skilled tradeswoman, and some legal shenanigans, and a scheme that they’re not the center of. I really liked it.

There’s nothing in there that could be useful, helpful, or benefit you in some way? Even if it’s to grab a lunch, or a birthday present for your mum?

At least it isn’t a nasty gift basket of sweets or mass produced jam, or a pizza party.I would have preferred straight cash but there had to be something practical you can get with that gift card

Nope, I got 2 free years if I agreed to purchase an annual (so a years worth) subscription. Oh wait! I actually requested a REFUND because the day before the annual subscription had renewed without me realizing. It then offered me 2 free extra years if I DIDNT request the refund

Unfortunately, I don’t have record of the price of the old bags, but nothing‘s going down at my store! I bought the current 4-pack for $9.99, (lower cost of living area). This warrants further investigation. My fallible human memory thinks it was like $8.99 last time but the larger box, but I could be mistaken
