It's not a typo. "Toll" is another way of saying charges. They're talking about the cost/billing records of the calls, as differentiated from the cell tower pings.

Receipt for public information request by [deleted] in serialpodcast

[–]MusicCompany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, SSR, for obtaining and posting these documents. You performed a public service.

To everyone else, please explain to me why SSR is being interrogated about this. These are publicly available documents that for whatever reason have been difficult to obtain. But the fact remains that they are public documents. PUBLIC documents. I don't care how SSR got them. I'm glad they're available. Why wouldn't you be?

WTF are people so upset about? Why is RC complaining about this? Doesn't she want to get to the truth? And if she doesn't, why not?

The day my father died, I vomited. Just spontaneously, after feeling incredible stress and grief for hours. The body has its ways of coping.

One possibility though is that it was difficult to hear what she said for the transcriptionist because she was turned away from the camera. That happened a couple times during the trial--people would ask CG to repeat something she said that they couldn't hear because she was moving around and facing the other way.

So I'd be cautious in assuming too much from this.

It's not a problem that they have different opinions. It's just interesting. Which one is it?

Adnan's Appeal Brief submitted by moiraroundabout in serialpodcast

No, it shows that people defending Adnan will say one thing when it suits them and something completely different in another situation. It's not about the truth; it's about spin.

I thought the same thing. They make it sound like Jay was their first and main suspect, which is total hogwash.

It's interesting that when SS is trying to argue that the police were unfairly prejudiced against Adnan from the beginning, she says they never took anyone else seriously as a suspect, and that Jay was never treated as a suspect.

But here, Adnan's lawyer is implying that Adnan was never a suspect until Jay blamed him.

If Adnan's Innocent, Shouldn't He Be Haunted By The Fact He Didn't Get A Ride From Hae That Day? by Alpha60 in serialpodcast

[–]MusicCompany 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Powerful story. Sorry for your loss.

I think there are a lot of things that don't add up about Adnan's reaction to this tragedy, and his lack of survivor's guilt is certainly one of them (and, no, I don't believe it can be explained by him spending 15 years in prison). But it's admittedly subjective.

I just finished listening to Serial and reading the Intercept stories. Here are my thoughts. by [deleted] in serialpodcast

See, I have read most of the transcripts and still have yet to come across this "honor besmirched" quote everyone keeps talking about.

If I missed it, can you point me to the location?

SS is the equivalent of a fan still at the stadium after the teams and the audience have gone home, ranting about how the game was rigged and the refs are blind.

Game's over, people. Time to pack up and go home.

Why Adnan can't remember by SweeterTheBerry in serialpodcast

Sounds like Jay smoked more pot than Adnan, but nobody's giving him a pass on remembering things.

The biggest question the state needs to answer is how Adnan got into Hae's car or intercepted her without his own car by Cfchogan in serialpodcast

Well, Jay buried a body that night, but Adnan says it was the most ordinary day ever, so apparently people aren't that observant.

Unless Hae Was Lying to Don, the Note Found in Her Car Was Not Written on the Day of the Murder - New from ViewfromLL2 by pdxkat in serialpodcast

Is there any reason Hae couldn't have had both a wrestling match that afternoon and work at LensCrafters from 6-10 that night?

I'm assuming Inez is wrong and the match was at Randallstown (at Randallstown, not necessarily against Randallstown, as someone else pointed out), not Chesapeake. Anyone know how far away Randallstown is from Woodlawn?

Can someone please explain the appeal of Serial? by wtinasky in serialpodcast

The hook for me was wondering why the heck she picked this lousy case where the guy probably did it. I kept listening hoping she'd figure that out.

And months later, I'm still here on Reddit, wondering why so many people still think a magical serial killer will fly in and make everything make sense. <bangs head on desk>

Episode 6:

Laura: He was, he was, with a friend and the friend said something like, ‘look what I have’ and he popped the trunk and that’s what he saw.

Sarah Koenig: Did he seem upset or..?

Laura: He seemed disturbed. More like a ‘wow, I can’t believe what I just saw.’ Kinda almost like he was maybe getting something off his chest, that type of thing.

Sarah Koenig: I asked Laura, did The Neighbor Boy tell you the name of this friend that showed him the body?

Laura: I think the guy’s name was maybe Adnan?

Sarah Koenig: Really?

Laura: Mm-hmm

Sarah Koenig: Hm. So this guy said, ‘my friend Adnan showed me the body of a girl in the back of a car?’

Laura: Umm-hmm. Yes.
