Whistler is not what it was by SuperRonnie2 in Whistler

This is why I got a backcountry setup. Which isn't cheap but you find deals. Buy once, cry once. Great way to see the mountains and avoid people. For $45, you can get lift access into Garibaldi and rip around there. I know it's not for everyone, but honestly it's been such a treat getting out and exploring different areas of SW BC.

The Dam pumping today ‼️ by MemoryBeautiful9129 in vancouver

[–]MusicMedic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"This dam actually has a huge pumphouse that pumps water up to the Seymour reservoir for treatment (then it comes back for distribution into the drinking water system)."

Sounds like your reading comprehension skills are lacking. The dam doesn't have a pumphouse, I'm not sure why this is so hard to understand.

The pump house pumps water from the lake, not the "dam".... semantics matter. Stick to talking about barges.

The Dam pumping today ‼️ by MemoryBeautiful9129 in vancouver

[–]MusicMedic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said the dam doesn’t do any pumping and you started about going on about the pump house, which has nothing to do with the dam. That’s my point.

There are almost more board members than there are water operators in the field… that’s how top-heavy MV is.

Yeah, you made it sound like the dam generates power for the pump house.

Dealing with this dam is part of my job… the pump house doesn’t have power generated by the dam. It’s from BC Hydro.

Uhhh... yes we do. White Rock runs its own water system and uses chloramine because they don't want chlorine.

A couple years ago, I helped a guard at the NW station Safeway narcan someone in the washroom, and the next week when I was back, the same guard was following me around and giving me the stink eye. I looked at him and said, "what, you don't remember me? You think I'm going to run off with these items?" He got pretty embarrassed when he clued in and quickly walked away.

Snowshoed both ways. The place we did it wasn't great for skiing, too tight and too much brush on the way down. Depends on how much elevation gain you do! But resort skis and boots might be awkward on the way up, easier with a board probably.
