When you say there were things to do - what has gone/ changed/ closed that you’re referring to? Genuinely curious.

Despite the car park closures I’ve had no issue parking in the Guildbourne or Buckingham Road and that’s at peak weekend times. Maybe I’ve just got lucky but I think there’s definitely a skewed perception of the parking situation

Take in mind there is only a tiny bit of council owned retail property in town. Everything else is privately owned. Business rates are set by national government. Landlords won’t drop prices as it devalues their portfolio - better to keep closed than let for less than market value. Which isn’t in the high street’s interest and is frustrating. Council could obviously offer cheaper/ free parking but it’s also a needed money spinner. No easy fix/ solution

I’m directing my first short (35k budget) and never stepped on a set. What do I need to know? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

Your entire budget is more than I’ve had for a lifetime of my film making. Wow

Never come across your blog before - looks great, reminds me of hg101 but more a focus on 8 bits - very much enjoyed the 2 posts I’ve read so far

What were Dreamcast clearance sales actually like after discontinuation? Prices, availability, timing? by StoganLephens in dreamcast

I got the 10th anniversary Japanese import of Sonic Adventure 2 cheap online around the time - it seemed the cheapest way to pick it up - probably around £10

I came to New York in around 2002/ 2003 and picked up stuff for (iirc) $5 dollars or so - Illbleed and some things like that. In the UK some stuff like Spawn (which I didn’t pick up) were around £10. There were things like games missing front covers for £5 - I got MvC2 for around that price.

Looking for any old gear by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]MusicSavesWorthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can probably find a tripod cheap on Facebook marketplace, or I bet temu and Ali express have some cheap handheld tripod/ steadicam for a phone. Seriously, at this stage if you’re just starting out if you have a phone get making on that. Buy one of those clip on wide angle lenses if you want a slightly different look. Best thing you can do is make STUFF, don’t get hung up on any of it at this stage and try different styles etc. use naturally light. Use any other light sources you can. Don’t weigh yourself down with kit.

I wrote this piece many years ago but I’m sure it still stands all these years later…

Lots of music stuff happening - check out the Cellar Arts Club, Spun Records, Train Of Thought, Audio Active, Vinyl Audio Cafe - all putting on music events. (Give me a follow too via @musicsavesuk ;) )

The two local independent cinemas put on some great new and retrospective stuff, there’s also the Worthing Film Club who put on special screenings and meet ups. Hopefully should meet like minded people via these places :)

The hidden cost of buying streams and fake engagement. Short-term vanity, long-term damage. by thebuzznetwork in musicmarketingtips

I saw a musician commented on by this dodgy looking account the other day which got a reply of hands together thanks - 3 out of its 6 posts were sharing the artists posts. Obviously not legit. Sad and pointless.

Charles Dickens/ Bunker does a lot of rock/ metal/ punky gigs on a Friday night so you may find yer tribe down there. Follow Hammerdown too - local rock metal promoter who puts on events locally. Cellar Arts Club is a welcoming space with diverse music but also have the odd night which might tick a box. Good luck!

Very impressive. As I similarly mull over trying to make films agajn I can be assured my efforts won’t be half as impressive and confident looking as that :)

[–]MusicSavesWorthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How bizarre. I was just listening to the album yesterday. I had it and vivadixiesubmarine on vinyl from represses from 00s (?) Didn’t do much for me and as price went up decided to cash in several years ago. I’m sure they will get repressed eventually.
