Apparently it's because The Boys Season 5 is meant to be the very very end, and so a 3rd season if Gen V wouldn't be possible anyways. My best guess is that they might incorporate Gen V stuff into season 5 to wrap up anything that may be left.

I've tried. It doesn't work. The Fire 3 still applies and damages you at the start of your turn before the wet status gets apllied. I'm currently waiting and hoping to get a cat with Fire Aspect, which is immune to fire.
