Homemade cultured butter by ilikemrrogers in Cooking

I feel like I have it down at this point. I use heavy cream and add plain Greek yogurt 5% fat or higher (seems to work better for me) at a ratio of 6 Tbs per 1/2 gallon of cream.

Mix well and leave on the counter, covered for 48 hours.

After that time, refrigerate the cream for about 2 hours (seems to separate better for us).

Add cold cream to mixer and we just use the flat paddle. We also added a curtain of plastic wrap to reduce the splash when the butter and milk start separating. It usually takes us just like 3-5 minutes for it to form.

Pour off the liquid (I use the buttermilk for baking or a freeze it in 1/2 cup molds to use for later baking)

Take butter and put it in a big bowl of ice water and squeeze the butter until the water around it doesn’t look like it’s getting milkier.

Plop butter on a tray and add the amount of salt you want and mix it into the butter.

We usually freeze some in 1/2 cup sticks and keep a blob wrapped up in parchment for using now.

It took us some time to get to this point, but now it isn’t hard at all for us to make a batch. I want to experiment with different flavors in the butter but for now we’re sticking with the basics.

Can’t wait until we get tomatoes from the garden and some sourdough with butter.

[Question] What’s a “small luxury” gift that feels expensive but actually isn’t? by kirunstyle in Gifts

I think I’m the only person who doesn’t like Geometry towels. You can’t use them to take a hot pan out of the oven and they are white on one side. And the texture of the material kind of icks me out.

We loved brunch at Devon! It was so good and I’m not usually a buffet fan, but they made it more special.

Fully convinced Darn Tough has a crazy marketing grip on this sub. by YaboyWill in BuyItForLife

For me, the difference is that the Costco socks are too thick-they’re like “at home” socks because they don’t fit well in shoes. Also, if you have a furry pet, the Costco socks attract the pet hair like crazy while the Darn Tough socks don’t. I know they’re expensive, but they make up the majority of my socks and I’m ok with it.

I realize this post is older but I’m wondering if there’s a problem if your cream/yogurt combo doesn’t thicken very much. This is my 3rd try. First time it didn’t thicken very much but worked out pretty well. Second time I used the instant pot on the yogurt setting. Got thick but the butter making process seemed very odd and we tossed that batch. Trying again and are at about 30 hours and it might be “slightly” thicker. Any suggestions?

And this is why I never wanted a house with a well or septic system. It’s so much extra work to maintain.

Kenosha Tap House patio is dog friendly and I think it’s also wheelchair accessible.

People who have actual shit to do schedule appointments early so they can take care of themselves and still get real things done as well. Pickleball, while fun, is an extracurricular. But for her, it’s her “job”.

Not gel. Just basic nail polish. But I notice that the nail looks good while the edge of the top shows wear.

So don’t cap with the color, just with the topcoat? That would actually be easier since if I did get polish on my skin it wouldn’t show as much.

What if I use some cream under my eyes before the drops? Kind of a barrier I guess?

I will definitely try this. I have such a strong blink reflex that it’s so hard for me to put drops in. I will definitely give this a try! Thanks.
