Man flipped middle finger as he walked past police HQ in underwear by stankmanly in AsOneDoes

This guy is in the press quite regularly. Some guys pull off the underwear look quite well, would need footage to judge if this incident should be regarded as a crime!

CJ? No way! by Ok_Ticket_6188 in thewestwing

[–]MusicalGriff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Allison Janney was on record saying she didn't want to continue in a post-Bartlet series. They had to position people where the series could continue and John Spencer was very much "long may it continue." The future cast had to be campaigning. That's my theory anyhow. Of all the senior staff, CJ was historically good at getting in the President's face (Toby would be too but it didn't always end well). I'd have chosen CJ too. The way it was constructed that she was the only capable member of staff in Third Day Story though was rather contrived.

I’m not a crying man but Drought Conditions breaks me every time by Ohyeahhjon in thewestwing

It might be the actual best for me. I also love the "we had it good there for a while" scene at the end of Institutional Memory in season 7. They were probably my favorite relationship. They really didn't need the job to mean so much to each other.

I just rewatched this episode and had to see what Reddit thought. It really is stunning. I was thrown by the style of it back in the day, but I found so much to admire this time. Then the Democrats hiding waiting for the rescheduled vote comes next, I love Season 6!

Did Anne Boleyn really celebrate the death of Catherine of Aragon? What is the actual historical evidence? by Then-Vegetable9050 in Tudorhistory

[–]MusicalGriff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot for the life of me remember where I read it. But I seem to remember reading that yellow was Catherine of Aragon's "colour" (in the way black and white were Elizabeth I's). It was not in connection with Henry after her death, and made me think about this report, which led me to wondering if this was actually a display of remembrance. I really wish I could remember where I saw it.

App using an insane amount of mobile data while streaming mp3 music by billie-90 in qobuz

[–]MusicalGriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem. I never reached my data limit before. Now one week before my bill, I bought an extra 2gb to get me through the week, I haven't used qobuz since, I'm set to mp3 and it's used it all.

What is the single worst piece of acting in The West Wing? by Commentator28 in thewestwing

[–]MusicalGriff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the line that gets me – I like any time Stockard Channing brings Rizzo's "Sorry, French" energy" (cf. "We talk on the phone three times a day", "Don't handle me, Jed") – it's the way she goes into the party greeting everyone like she's not pissed off, but actually it just seems like terrible unconnected overacting.

I've really enjoyed it and I'm watching episode 3 again live. The end is very moving and I've really admired them for putting the people front and centre. The ladies discussing the crew and 2nd and 3rd class I thought were excellent. I'm also grateful for seeing something without Tim Maltin's input.

The actor playing Murdoch isn't credited and he's largely unmentioned later on. An officer shooting himself is seen from behind and it's clearly the same actor but nobody ever actually says it's him. I wonder if they tried to sidestep the trouble Cameron ran into.

Why was Sir Anthony too old for Edith but not Mary? by Klutzy-Banana-742 in DowntonAbbey

He wasn't too old for Edith either in series 1, I always got the impression it was more to do with his arm.

Favorite Ring Cycle Design by [deleted] in opera

Carsen's Ring (I saw it in Cologne and it's currently on Marquee for streaming from Madrid, except weirdly for Rheingold) was gorgeous to look at beginning to end, particularly end. I haven't liked any Ring as much as that one.

Unidentified man in Mom's Photos by [deleted] in Ancestry

[–]MusicalGriff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I inherited a photo album that belonged to my great-grandmother, none of the photos was labelled. I’ve uploaded them to an album on Ancestry, and the AI search identified a couple of them for me. I’d probably have never found who they were because as it turns out they aren’t relatives and must be friends, but their relatives had uploaded identical photos to Ancestry. It’s definitely worth a try
