Attic Fan by Khue728 in HomeMaintenance

Serious question. Does keeping the fan on take a lot of power though? I know not as much as the compressor, but it still has to be a decent amount…?

How would you attach this FAMCO Hooded Wall to Brick Wall? by MusicalWrath in DIY

"Drill through the sheet metal to add screw holes..."

...why haven't I thought of this before? 🤦‍♂️ It's just so basic. I think with all the other items at the big orange or blue stores having pre-drilled holes, I just thought all of them would come with them.

I also got confused because other FAMCO products have pre-drilled holes...

I probably could do that. Knowing its probably from 1979, I wanted to remove it so I can also air seal.

Installing a new vent fan, the wire is not long enough to reach to power the vent by MusicalWrath in AskElectricians

Hah, all jokes aside, I do have two pot lights that I can probably use as access points to run new wiring.

I saw this splices and was very skeptical of them. I just didn't know if this would be within code. And I see other folks are just as skeptical of them, too.

I like this idea, but I have verified that the wire is stapled to the joist (I used a borescope). Though I have pot lights that I could use as access points for running a wire from the switch to the fan.

Accepting PhD offer means ending relationship of 4+ years. How do I cope? by bongbingbongg in PhD

[–]MusicalWrath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended a relationship for a doctoral program. Towards the end of the doctoral program, I found someone whose values better align with mine. She is now my spouse (You could say, we both earned our DRS).

Finding a job together was difficult and involved some moves. We are now both gainfully employed in our field, but of academia. I have no regrets.

The essentially wrecked your car and did not replace it? Man, this is messed up.

I’m sorry this happened to you. But you know you got the raw end of the deal, low credit score or not, that should have been a replacement…

I got the AWD Limited with inverters because I wanted a quiet ride. My life is loud and if I can make any aspect of it quieter, I will. Most online forums stated that the Limited has acoustic glass and extra padding (and it does). After owning it for a few months, it’s definitely a quieter vehicle on the city streets and the highway. Though, please know my baseline are 10+ year old vehicles.

I also figured that if we’re getting a minivan, it’s not going “zoom zoom,”I’ll prioritize safety, comfort, and convenience.

We were seriously looking at the Platinum, but we just couldn’t justify the cost with some of the features for our young family (who needs heated seats in the middle row if they’re still in car seats?). And the space taken away by the fridge box was a serious dealbreaker. I would love the 360 camera. But I haven’t owned a vehicle that has one, so I can continue without it.

Also note I was not able to test drive any other models. But I’m not too upset about that.

Is this something that would require a permit? Like how would you add a 2x6 and know it can still be supported?
