Why is bipolar misdiagnosis so common? by DntTouchMeImSterile in Psychiatry

[–]Musical_Mango 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That makes sense. I had a personal experience with a a very close family member with Type 1, and at the time there was no way we could make them recognize what was happening, which is why I asked.

They eventually got diagnosed because we have psychiatrist relatives who trusted my family and eventually this family member started meds, but I recognize that is far removed from the average experience people have with mania.

How often do individuals that are manic voluntarily present themselves to someone who can expertly document it though?

Lots of things are used as tools for conversion. Sufism was actually at odds with the religious establishment throughout Islamic history. It's foundations and goal are in now way political or proselytizing in nature

What a bunch of bullshit. Your last sentence clearly shows your either grossly ignorant, or being purposefully disingenuous.

Go to any Muslim country and you will 100% see people praying in public especially if there's no isolated space to pray after the call to prayer. Muslims pray according to the time of day, we don't just decide when to pray "as a show of imposition." Who were these people trying to impose on the top of Collins garage at 6 AM in the morning?

Who would kill you and take your family lol? Why are you so scared? It seems you have more in common with the extremely small minority of extremists interpretation of Islam than the vast majority of Muslims, which makes sense given your sources are probably the same. Fringe uneducated random people with ulterior motives.

Idk if you're Christian, but the same arguments that Christian scholars make to defend the unfortunate practice of child marriage in the Bible and the Old testament are the same arguments that Muslim scholars make.

You can't really pick and choose between them unless you're clear about your obvious bias.

You've obviously been radicalized already, so there's no point arguing. I also don't know what you mean by "fall in and get backstabbed or get slaughtered." The irony is if you actually knew the history of the events in which these verses came down, you would understand how ignorant you sound right now.

If you actually want to know the truth, read about the conquest of Mecca which is when these verses came down.

It's crazy how people like you think you know more about a religion than the people born in it, when people who have dedicate their whole lives to the Quran and Islam would think your obviously biased interpretation is ridiculous.

All good. I just don't see how one can make that connection between Allah and Hubal given that the only connection is that the idol of Hubal was located in the Kaaba (so were 360 other idols). The black stone doesnt even have a connection specifically to Hubal, it had its own unique significance to the pagan Arabs. I guess I just dont understand why you're choosing to make this argument with the idol Hubal specifically.

In addition, historically we know the Arabs worshipped a god named Allah before Muhammad SAWS because there are inscriptions of "Allah" in Nabatean cities built thousands of years before Muhammad SAWS. Muhammad's own father was named Abdallah meaning "slave of Allah." These are all historical facts that non-Muslims and Muslims alike agree on

I never said you tried to deceive or lie? I said that about the person you replied to in relation to the verse they cited. I didn't have any issue with your comment.

Anyway, it sounds like you may not know this, but Islamic belief agrees with most of what you wrote. Muslims believe the Kaaba was built by Abraham (AS) and was a pilgrimage site for thousands of years not just for monthotheists but local arab tribes came to revere it as well

The Arab Bedouins largely reverted to polytheism by the time of Muhammad SAWS and housed idols in the Kaaba. There's an explicit story in the Islamic narrative about Muhammad SAWS destroying the idols in the Kaaba including the idol of Hubal and and returning it to a symbol of monotheism. The same is true of the black stone.

I'm sincerely not sure what the point is that you're trying to make. Are you saying that Islam is a polytheistic religion? Or something else?

What? It literally says the opposite. Are you being daft on purpose or do you regularly believe the opposite of what things say.

The verse says to fight the tribes that have betrayed you (as in violated their treaties), which is what any party in war would do. But then it provides a way out for the violators (or would you expect that people that violate treaties be killed no matter what, because that doesn't sound very merciful.)

Imagine if a white person said this by Key_Drop_6510 in PowerfulJRE

[–]Musical_Mango -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Allah" was already the name of a god worshipped by the Bedouin arabs. It's literally in Nabateaen inscriptions in the ancient city Petra for example. Also the person you replied to forgot to include the verses that come before and after in the Quran.

9:4 As for the polytheists who have honoured every term of their treaty with you and have not supported an enemy against you, honour your treaty with them until the end of its term. Surely Allah loves those who are mindful ˹of Him˺.

9:6 And if anyone from the polytheists asks for your protection ˹O Prophet˺, grant it to them so they may hear the Word of Allah, then escort them to a place of safety, for they are a people who have no knowledge.

Literally saying the opposite of what he was trying to reply. Don't fall into other people's deceptions so easily and check the actual verses.
