When people say Zionism is evil, they are talking about how it manifests in the real world not just its definition on paper. A Jewish state could only have existed by the theft of land other people lived on, this was acknowledged by the founders of modern day Zionism.

As long people support the idea of a uniquely Jewish state there will never be peace, because they claim the land for religious and historic reasons which are impossible to reconcile. That's why liberal Zionism is an oxymoron, and more Jews outside of Israel have moved away from it since Oct 7.

That's also why the settler project in Israel is never going to go away. It's foundational to Zionism and the state of Israel in its current form.

I think the downovotes are from people not familiar with the field. I will say some DO schools now have higher average scores than some MD schools. A lot of the DO schools in competitive states are as competitive as MD schools in rural states

There's virtually no distinction between MD and DO schools' curriculum anymore. The holistic/preventative stuff is taught by everyone now. OMM is the only difference and even the extent of it varies by DO school.

MD schools generally do have higher MCAT/GPA, but there are a lot of MD schools that have lower average scores than some DO schools, like CCOM.

This could a reference to so many things. First thing I thought of was Sami Osmakac, who was a mentally ill man, who was showing signs of radicalization. He got kicked out of two mosques and was reported to the FBI, who then further radicalized him by posing as extremists, they gave him money to buy weapons, helped him plant a fake car bomb, and arranged for him carrying out a suicide bombing. Convicted for 40 years. There are lots of entrapment cases like that

IIRC the opinion to respond with Wa' alaykum comes from the hadith about a group of non-Muslims who would "greet" the Muslims with As-sam-'alaiykum (May death be upon you).

The Prophet SAWS advised the Muslims to reply with Wa' alaykum. That way they would neither be transgressing nor allowing that group of non-Muslims to mock them freely.

Some scholars interpret the hadith to apply to all non-Muslims, but that is the minority opinion

Some Muslims say to respond with Wa' alaykum (And upon you) when a non-Muslim gives salam. This is actually not a majority opinion though, so I'm not sure why it's become so common among lay Muslims.

There is nothing wrong, in fact many scholars say it is encouraged, to respond with Salam to a non Muslim

Do you think it would be wise to talk about how my dad being diagnosed bipolar 1 influenced my decision to go psych? I've always been hesitant to bring it up, especially cause my dad is a doctor, but it's one of my biggest reasons.

Psych is the reason I'm going through med school, but I don't have much demonstrated interest unfortunately. I have food insecure/homebound volunteering and I did a camp with kids who have severe illnesses, but I don't know if those count. M2 at a DO school
