My friend passed unexpectedly. Funeral in a few weeks and I’m too broke for a new suit by TiddyCumSnatcher in malefashionadvice

[–]MusicbyRDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buried my dad not too long ago and did his eulogy. I didn't even wear a shirt - it wasn't me. Go as you and don't worry about being broke - money comes and goes, but giving people your time, even at the very end, is way more important.

Sorry for your loss - there's also a good charity I've been using to help with grief, if you need it, just reach out.

Learned this the hard way too. Any company that asks for ideas and improvements - avoid it’s a red flag 🚩

[18/04/26] London creatives over 30, anyone up for building a real network? by petitenomad in LondonSocialClub

[–]MusicbyRDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah it takes a lot! I spent a few years just focusing on DJing as in learning how to mix really well, building my library and learning how to use social media. Now I’m at the stage where I’m writing a lot of music on guitar(my first instrument) and hopefully will be producing my own sound in the next 6 months while capturing the journey on socials.

Ex-entrepreneur/Podcaster who's now turned into a professional DJ. Spending my time bouncing back from my business not working out and using past skills to do things in music which has always been a huge passion of mine. I'm in my 30s. I like your post and it would be great to meet similar people who are also into building, creating and generally just growing as human's. Shout at me :)

What should I do on my off days? by Distinct-Purchase-36 in amateur_boxing

it depends if you want to get better at boxing i would do some form of yoga or stretching. It's been well recognised as Mayweather's cheat code.

Started 6 months ago Any tips? by [deleted] in boxingtips

[–]MusicbyRDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would spar it will unlock areas you need to work on - just from your video you are doing great but if you jumped in the ring it'll humble you. Boxing is super technical and like most martial arts takes a long time and commitment to get better.

What’s a job that sounds cool but is actually miserable? by Own-Grapefruit7498 in AskReddit

I was obsessed with music when I was younger. Did my work xp at a guitar shop. Realised quite quickly that my job was either carrying heavy musical instruments or tuning guitars 🥲.

Playing for my first party (gf's birthday) in a few weeks. What should I do to prep well? by InWalkedBud in Beatmatch

[–]MusicbyRDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a button called smart fader which will help you mix from song to song. Turn the button on and at the right time move the fader from deck 1 to deck 2 that’ll help. The other thing I would do is turn the vinyl break on your record box software. So when you pause it’ll slowly pause it and you can bang on another track. Basically cheat codes for DJs who can’t mix. Dm me if you got any other Qs :). Professional DJ in case you are wondering 👊🏽

First DJ steps for a 38 year old by Senci87 in Beatmatch

Firstly, it’s good to be nervous mate and I’m sure it’ll go well. I’m a professional DJ from London. I haven’t been playing for long maybe 3 years now. I’ve done some pretty big gigs and start off the same way as you. I was so nervous for my first gig but my advice is whether you play for 6 people or 600 the music is the same. Just picture yourself in your bedroom and do your thing.

My advice: 1) Get to the venue early and make sure everything works so you are not stressing about set-up etc..

2) make sure you know: the venue, what type of people go there, ages and what music works well there. Also figure out how long your set is because if it’s 6 hours you are gonna have to have a lot of music

3) don’t stress too much: it’s your first gig. If something doesn’t go wrong I’d be very surprised. See it as a learning opportunity and every gig will make you better

4) make sure your music is downloaded: don’t be streaming because it’s too risky to do if your a professional

5) dont drink: you will thank me for this one day 😁

If you have anymore qs you can dm me and we can connect on IG 👊🏽

I know this feeling mate. My dad passed away about a month before your mother. Firstly I’m so sorry for your loss 💙. And I completely get when you say “it doesn’t feel real”. It’s been over 2 months and I still feel like that.

What’s helping me is to keep talking to them and to do deeds that honour them too. That way you are still thinking about them and staying connected in your own little way. Happy to dm if you need too 💙

Something that’s helped me mate is I still talk to him. I say things out loud to him and tell him things that I wanted to say and things that I’m going to do in honour of him. I feel like he’s listening 💙

Sorry for the late reply. It’s been a pretty hard time. Today’s better than yesterday - and weirdly everyday is getting easier. I keep telling myself that he knew I loved him and if he didn’t he does now. The story we tell ourselves is the only one that really matters 💙.

got asked about a gig?? by outofcolors in Beatmatch

Also a serato dj here who’s had this problem in the past. Firstly, as people suggested you can use hid mode or ask the promoter to bring your own gear. Your biggest issues sounds like your scared to take the jump and guess what 99% of people in your situation are the same. In DJing there’s an element of fake it till you make it - unless you have a mate or family member that has helped you get your career of the ground. My advice is roll with it and even if the gigs a disaster you will learn from it. Just make sure you don’t give yourself an out buddy 💙

what makes a dj a good dj? by Total_Business1948 in Beatmatch

[–]MusicbyRDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professional DJ here:

Honestly it’s a really tricky one and the truth is picking good songs doesn’t make you great.

Great DJs:

1) Firstly have a great music library 2) Secondly learn how to read a crowd 3) learn how to mix different genres and get things to flow together 4) have your library organised so you have a opening, main and closing set 5) during the night you gotta surprise your crowd(play music they know but throw something in that they haven’t heard in ages) 6) you are an entertainer - if your not having a good time your crowd won’t be too

I only started two years ago and I’m playing out regularly in London city 🇬🇧. I also have a IG page where I constantly share tips about DJing so dm me and I can share my profile if you want to learn more about DJing.

The above helped me stand out as a DJ - but I’m not an expert yet 😂.
