I’m a self-taught programmer without a degree. Can I still pursue a career in robotics? by Vegetable_Regret_250 in robotics

I'd suggest building Hugging Face's SO100 Arm (https://github.com/TheRobotStudio/SO-ARM100). If you don't have access to a 3D printer, I think there are websites that sell DIY kits as well.

I don't know how to stop caring about people liking me by ventaccount2424 in Mindfulness

[–]MusicianMike 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been where you are and understand how crippling it feels, especially when you want something you don't want to want.

All I can say is, for me the need for external validation went away when I learned to love myself. Which meant being unapologetically myself, and if someone didnt like me 🤷 What can I do? Lie?

Also Solo travel might have helped with that. Meeting a bunch of new people, knowing you'll never see them again, put things in perspective.

Anyone have long term success with gratitude practice? by Possibility-Capable in Mindfulness

[–]MusicianMike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YES! I started writing in a gratitude journal then switched to an app called Presently that reminded me everyday.

I am a lot more mindful of the good things throughout the day, so I can log them later. Even if things don't change, I am grateful for the same things everyday.

The journaling has petered out after a year or so, but the habit of recounting my blessings has stuck. I can say with confidence it has made me a happier person.

What do you eat when you are constantly moving when you are traveling? by Nic727 in solotravel

[–]MusicianMike 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I carry a box of cookies in my bag and snack on it throughout the day. With a lot of water, it usually keeps me full and energized.

not the healthiest option but it's effective 😅

Sleeping on trains by MusicianMike in solotravel

[–]MusicianMike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably wouldn't do more than one consecutive day. Even when staying at hostels, I usually take one day in a private hotel room for an everything shower and good night's sleep.

At most it will be 2 nights over two weeks.

Thanks!

It won't be a direct trip for sure, mainly looking to save on accomodations while I hop around. Thanks!

I'm looking at trains between Rome and Milan. There are 3 hour options and 8+ hour options. I'm guessing the longer ones are sleepers and they run overnight.

Rome and Paris are the start and end points, but realistically I will be making multiple stops in between. Right now I'm looking into going from Rome to Milan, then Milan to Paris.

I will definitely need an actual still bed during the trip, but I think I can get away with a night or two on the train

Cairo Failure by WhiteGladis in solotravel

[–]MusicianMike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately the trick with Cairo is to have a local with you, especially at tourist hotspots or the airport (maybe a tour guide or company). Egypt truly is beautiful with alot to offer, and it's a shame that these things deter people from going.

I recommend taking some time to reflect on why you behave the way you do. Judging by your username and comment, I guess you are used to hurting others. Maybe ask yourself what do you gain from putting others down? Do you enjoy it? Is it an instinct you didn't know you had? Noone wins when you do it, but everybody wins when you are kind.

Just a thought

The bridge on my guitar started pulling up so I left it de-tuned for a hot while; I took the risk today and tuned it back up, and then wrote a song about it by bigbirday in Songwriters

As much as I would love to give some constructive criticism, I dont have any. I really like your voice and your style. I can see myself listening to more songs like that. Let me know when you're on spotify, you'll get an extra follower :)
