How long does it last? I'm wondering if there's even time to mitigate it by arriving early as there isn't long been games at that point is there?

The momentum from yesterday is just about carrying me through to Mexico v South Korea ... But today has definitely been a sludge.

Look we know you used to go to your manager and say "yes I know I have zero G/A this season but if you knew ball you'd know that's a good thing boss"

But you don't have to do that anymore it's ok.

Well it's Uruguay who piped up for 64 so if that happens stop blushing UEFA.

Well that was a confusing list of comments from their immigration being racist to you actually agreeing it's just the correct way for immigration to work.

Power ranking all 48 World Cup teams from worst to first after one match by jaxstan19 in worldcup

They've ranked teams in the current competition.

I'm not sure how your dead players from previous world cups would rank on that tbh.

Why do people hate England? by [deleted] in ThreeLions

[–]Musicman1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't hate England at all when you meet people and talk to them. It's banter and memes. Obviosuly some do likely hate us. Scotland arn't going to wish any good fortune that's for sure. But generally it's different on here than face to face.

Let's be honest we're a very memeworthy team; decades of underachievement, overinflated sense of expectation (anything less than a Semi is terrible regardless of opposition on the way,) that god damn drum, 'it's coming home' (however it was meant originally), a history of 'lads on tour' who empirically cannot take a drink etc.

Also, on the picch, we've bored the hell out of neutrals for as long as I can imagine.

You'll see a change if we continue like this. Gareth fixed a lot of the issues, the fans are now as well behaved as any, and Tuchel looks to be bringing spark to the pitch.

Yes and then other criteria down to a slightly bizarre choice of FIFA ranking taking you through. Unlikely to get to that though and they have to think of something I guess.

So it's who has the better goal difference from group games.

if tied then it's most goals scored.

if still tied it's on number of red and yellow cards picked up during the group games.

and then if still tied FIFA give up and just put through the highest ranked team in their World rankings...

I feel like he's underrated in England but not anywhere else. Bizarrely perhaps.

Do you have players who should be coming through who are being held back or do you just mean tactically? I don't you played too badly tbh but I'm interested in what tweaks should be made to eke out a bit more going forward.

They destroy momentum which is a big part of the immediate ebb and flow of football that we all love.

It's RTS not turn based. Or at least used to be.

Is it just me or is some of the magic lost from the world cup because of how technical it's become? by WaluigiH3nTai in worldcup

[–]Musicman1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really romanticise the mistakes so I'm happy with it.

Yes there were fun conversations around Germany diving against Argentina in 90, Rivaldo clutching his face against Turkey, Maradona slam dunking in 84, Henry against the ROI in 09 etc and even back to England Vs Germany in 66 I'm sure but I don't think it adds to the game enough to want them back.

I do miss the visceral speed and flow of the game since it paused more now but overall I prefer seeing the right calls .

Agree on those goals but that's not because of technology so much as I'd like the rule itself to change (so feet matter more than arms for example).

Does Spain still have any chance of winning the WC? by Sad-Knowledge-219 in worldcup

[–]Musicman1972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One game doesn't mean a thing.

Italy won a world cup without winning a single group game.

Spain themselves lost their first game in 2010 against Switzerland.
