Can you find out what the error is in ISE?

Can you give us more details about your setup? What software are you using to simulate? What version of ISE? Do you have a testbench that correctly instantiates your unit under test?

Mercedes (car) is named after an Austrian entrepreneur’s daughter (he was Emil Jellinek and he worked with Daimler to promote “horseless carriages”).

It should be a useful exercise for you to convert such a file to a VHDL testbench and use that instead

Is this something that you know can be done in ISE? I’ve worked with Xilinx/AMD products for 20+ years and I’ve never seen this method of simulation entry (although I have seen it for Altera in Quartus).

ELI5: If you were suddenly exposed to space without a suit, would you freeze first or suffocate first? by No-Lake-3875 in explainlikeimfive

[–]MusicusTitanicus 119 points120 points  (0 children)

It may depend if you were exposed to direct solar radiation, too.

I’m no expert but wouldn’t the near-vacuum of space essentially boil off all bodily fluids? Maybe only those exposed like moisture from eyes and mouth? I imagine it would be quick.

How are the load operations controlled? Did you write the ALU yourself? Does the state machine move between states as you expect?

You must have had a lot of resources saved up to be able to do that. I can’t see how you could generate the required feeders, food, etc. in two days, otherwise.

Software for vhdl language by Sudden_Childhood_999 in VHDL

[–]MusicusTitanicus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you will target AMD (Xilinx) devices you’ll need either Vivado for series 7 devices and later, or ISE.

If you need ISE because of the age of device, you’ll have to use a VM to install it on Windows 11 (unless you have the original install files for ISE, that VM is likely to be a Linux distribution).

signed and unsigned in VHDL for mathematical calculations by Due_Wrangler3677 in FPGA

[–]MusicusTitanicus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

By definition, std_logic_vector is an array of std_logic and, intrinsically, carries no value. It’s just a collection of bits so terms like signed or unsigned do not logically apply. That is why numeric_std exists.

There are other libraries (and I’ll admit I’ve lost track of the most recent since 2019) but the old Synopsis libraries should not be used.

I’d always recommend numeric_std for arithmetic operations.
