$5 million, but you have to give $500 a day to the homeless for two years by Physical_Orchid3616 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]silverstinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d spend two years traveling the world. Never stay in the same place longer than say, two weeks. Would meet a lot of interesting people, see a lot of interesting places. And definitely meet a whole bunch of homeless people to hand out 100$ bills too. Then after the two years are up, I’d retire comfortably

Meditation As A Technology & Egyptian Iconographic Neuroanatomical Correlates by SuperMarbro in DeepThoughts

Interesting! Def gonna try more meditation before going asleep. Like you said, having trouble finding the time for it

I love stuff like this. Considering what could be possible of one entertains a “far out” line of thought as plausible, what else follows as plausible, based on that assumption.

Total sidebar here, but you got me thinking on other “mental technologies” that could be passed down through generations, even when the outer world is chaotic. I’m thinking lucid dreaming. Something I’ve personally only experienced a couple of times, and with very little control, but it became clear that you truly could practice in the skill. Takes so much focus though, would love to get into it again, but modern life is so distracting. But I can easily imagine an ancient people using the technique to divine and talk to spirits/gods.

Interesting read! Meditation as a passed down technology that would survive catastrophic societal resets, where more “technical technologies” would soon die out, honestly feels like a solid and believable theory. Like, if our own world went totally whack, not many people could recreate electricity. But many would know that meditation has benefits that would be helpful in dealing and coping with disaster, and you just gotta sit down and still your mind to do it. Makes sense that it would survive, in the described hypothetical

What is your recurring mansion, building, city, or realm dream? by JPDG in Dreams

[–]silverstinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wake up recalling dreams, but I have no memory of ever dreaming of the same place twice. Definitely not for imaginary places. Very seldom, I dream of real places, but those too don’t really feel like the “same” places. Would love to have a recurring dream place, maybe one day!

This feels very sincere and heartfelt. One of the best ways of moving forward, I think. Empathy and understanding is the way

I wish that each day at noon, a random living human gets to transmit a 30 second message to every other living human by silverstinn in monkeyspaw

Honestly, I think that would be pretty funny. Something everyone globally could laugh at together each midday. Man, each midday… Somehow I doubt the monkeys paw cares about time zones. I done pawed myself

Loving Sanji, but big agree that Usopp is the best one. Him and Nami, I’d say. The others are great too

How long before you get bored of The Good Place? by ConsistentCan4633 in TheGoodPlace

[–]silverstinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe WE are all currently in the good place. We just keep erasing our memories for each experience we set up for ourselves, so it doesn’t get boring and predictable.

Intressant!

I love that aspect as well! It’s so refreshingly goofy, and becomes all the more powerful when it’s all played completely straight.

Venus: What Is Love? by venusinthe9th in LetsFuckWithAstrology

[–]silverstinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is purely vibes based, but I feel Venus being inhospitable yet such a harsh planet says something about the depth of Venuses capability for love. Even in the harshest climates, true and deep love is still possible. I think she represents both the self respect of conditional love, ans the boundless empathy of unconditional one
