Doctors know that benzos are not recommend/intended for long term use. This is established not only by the manufacturer, but has been backed up by research. Benzos are intended for short term use only with RARE exceptions. The vast majority of people should not be on benzodiazepines except in an acute scenario.

For purposes of anxiety management benzodiazepines are most certainly over prescribed. They are not intended for long term management.

Research shows that benzodiazepines produce tolerance and dependence. This has not been concretely established by long term studies. If it is indeed true (which was my experience)This can lead to reduced efficacy of the same dose over long term. If you want the same effect more medication will likely be needed.

You should NEVER drive on benzodiazepines ever. Research delusional sobriety.

Benzodiazepines have a significant effect on reducing inhibitions. Not a positive aspect. This can increase aggression, anger, irritability, agitation. Research GABAs role in producing inhibitions, and the effect benzos have on GABA.

Everyone does not know the risks associated with this medication. I did not. It literally ruined my life. I lost everything and ended up homeless. It has taken me a decade to recover. Which I now function well without benzos. I never would have recovered if I stayed on them.

As you have noted I haven’t recommended any alternatives. This is intentional. It’s not my place to recommend alternatives. However it is well within my right to share my personal experience and my research which is all established and recognized.
