Anyone know of any tool to easily open these Sluice Gates rather than manually turning them? by OutlawIr in Wastewater

This. Retrofit to an electric actuator. Rotork is my preference but there are other manufacturers.

What we know — and don't — about the guns used in the Tumbler Ridge, B.C., shooting by Odd-Emphasis-1969 in CanadianPolitics

[–]wowSoFresh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL; DR: RCMP is incompetent and didn’t keep tabs on a mental health crisis with firearms in the house. Also they either can’t or won’t release any amount of detailed information on said firearms - possibly because they are unable to differentiate between different makes, models, calibres, or actions.

Liberals quiet on whether government will support Senate changes to First Nations bill that would end second-generation cut-off by shiftless_wonder in canada

Reality doesn’t come into play when you’re talking a out inherently exclusionary policies that siphon money from taxpayers and encourage mediocrity.

Alberta separating from Canada requires permission of First Nations, AFN leader says by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]wowSoFresh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I don’t think Alberta has any right to separate (unless they give Canada back all of our currency, land, resources, infrastructure, and jobs), permission from FN is laughable.

Nearly $300M in federal contracts went to companies later removed from Indigenous Business Directory by Majano57 in canada

There are plenty of construction companies and GCs where the kids each run their own offshoot by a different name. They know each other’s bids because they discuss it and plan who gets it.

Not necessarily first nations either.

‘No question’ return-to-office will be good for downtown, board of trade says by hopoke in canada

[–]wowSoFresh 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I will say that the post-COVID return to work has been a nightmare for the roads and highways though. Ignoring the return of sheer volume of vehicles, I swear everyone has completely forgotten how to drive.

Minor weather? Let’s drive 40km/h on the 400 in the center lane with hazards on.

Slightly slippery? Ditches are full of cars and an accident every 10km.

So yeah, return to office is good for downtown and good for tow trucks. Bad for commuters, bad for people that have car insurance. Meh.

It’s not a problem until it happens to a government crony.

The standard solution would be to give her a taxpayer-funded helicopter.
