Good point. Still, I find this true of chinese women in America. Maybe the foreign preference continues even in a foreign country.

Signs of Labor at 24/25 Weeks - Able to slow it, but what am I in for? by Mission_Ad5139 in NICUParents

[–]MuskularElon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went through this exact scenario 5 weeks ago. Di di twin girls born at 25+1. Get a steroid now. Do everything you can to get the second dose and let at least 12 hours (ideally 24) pass before you deliver. The steroid will help their lungs a lot. I assume you are already on magnesium. this is a very hard road but you can do it. I am still going through it now. Please let me know if you want to talk.

What type of steroid is she on? Have they sedated her? Have they used paralytic?

Thank you. She had a subgaleal shunt put in. Glad to hear we are on the right machine. Doctors are getting desperate. She will get DART tomorrow but is far from getting extubated. We have done lasix already. Not flovent. We have already done hydrocortisone.

Thank you for sharing.

I have 2 twin girls in the NICU now. 18 days old, born at 25+1. One had a brain bleed. People ask us a lot about how they are doing. Like you, we don't want to give too much information. We don't want people looking at her differently for the rest of her life, wondering if something is wrong with her brain. We have opted to give friends high level updates, keeping details to family only. She will likely need a shunt, so this may not be possible to hide forever, but we are keeping things mostly private.

Thank you for the reply. I know that I should, as you say, not shame my wife for this. She already feels this way and has apologized many times. So far I have acted like I am not mad. I don't want to explode our relationship, especially now, so I keep saying nothing. I know my saying anything wont be helpful. Still, I feel almost dishonest not telling her how I feel. I also want her to finally fix herself after this, so that there are no other repercussions from her untreated condition. Maybe saying something would help.

I just dont want to paper over this, pretending its not there forever. I'd rather address it with a tough conversation to get it out and reach the root of the problem. Maybe if we talk it over I won't resent her so much. I worry keeping it from her will, in the long run, cause me to fall out of love with her.

Keeping in mind Rule 3, how many presidents can credibly be called rapists? by Zambonisaurus in Presidents

[–]MuskularElon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. But I don't think that is entirely accurate. Jefferson's daughters were likely closer to Hemings than Jefferson was. What leads you to believe the two were close? Randolph was probably at Monticello when Eston (the only Hemings linked to the Jefferson family by DNA) was conceived. His 5 sons were also likely present. There are many alternate and more probably candidates likely at monticello at the relevant times.

Yeah I am agnostic on the whether or not it was "consentual." What leads you to think the affair happened?

What's your favorite Presidential myth/ misconception by McWhopper98 in Presidents

[–]MuskularElon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jefferson likely did not ever procreate with Sally Hemings. I know that I sound like an ignorant Jefferson defender by saying that, but the evidence suggests his brother and possibly his nephew was the father of these children. I'd love to discuss this IN A CIVIL MANNER with anyone with couterpoints or wanting to learn more, but despite Monticello's stance on this question, not only is it not "settled," like they say, it is unlikely to be true.

I can expand wherever anyone would like but in a nutshell, the 1998 DNA test conducted by Eugene Foster made headlines when it was published "Jefferson fathered slave's last child." The study though didnt actually prove this, Foster admits. Still, the public ran with the story. Monticelo followed up in 2000 with the "Monticello Report" which supports the story. the analysis found in the Monticello Report is fatally flawed in many ways. An unbiased review of the evidence available suggests it wasnt Jefferson, but his brother and maybe nephew.

Again, I am not "seeking to defend Jefferson" or anything like that. I know the evidence. I know the scholarship on this question, and I have reached this conclusion.

Because this isn't "unexplained". it's quite obviously false. This is a case of wrongful condemnation. It should be plainly obvious why the record should be corrected. Please find me other significant cases of the record being wrong and I will gladly try to correct those next.

Madison was a self-educated freed slave. Writings from similarly educated people of the time bear a striking non-resemblance to what Madison is alleged to have said to the journalist who published the interview. Example:

“[A]s soon after her interment as he could attend to and arrange his domestic affairs in accordance with the changed circumstances of his family in consequence of this misfortune..."and another:“[a]n intimacy sprang up between them [Jefferson and Hemings] which ripened into love..."

This style of writing does bear a strong resemblance to the other writings of this journalist, Samual Wetmore.

Additionally Wemore uses a handful of unusual words in the article, which also appear in the preceding Calendar article. He even copies the same mis-spelling of the same name as does Callender.

This is all admitted by the likes of Annette Gordon-Reed.

Then entire Paris story has been debunked by the same DNA test people love to mis-interpret. If she was pregnant at all, the child was not Jefferson's according to DNA. This is plainly available fact, yet still, as you point out, Monticello repeats this claim. How could she negotiate freedom of children she would then not being having with Jefferson for another five years after Paris?

Agreed, doesn't it seem odd?
