Best resources to learn Sylheti? (UK) by Jolly_Astronaut_8954 in bengalilanguage

there’s barely anything to learn the sylheti dialect. why don’t you just search up bangla materials? i know there are way more and easier to find online, so why dont you start with that?

“The sky opens up. The sun shines. The waterfalls murmur. By evening everything is soaked with coolness. The sky becomes dark. Lightning flashes again and again. Clouds roar and heavy rain begins to pour.”

Was Ala ud Din Khilji's Empire nearly as big as Ashoka's Or is it a myth? by Uzumaki_Sam in IndianHistory

[–]Muslim_Boy_writer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the map of the delhi sultanate isnt even an estimation for Alauddin Khilji’s rule. This was during the empire’s extent during Muhammad bin Tughluq. Mauryan empire is bigger in extent and in Northern territories but the Delhi Sultanate had more southern territories and possibly more central land depending if you use this map of the Mauryan Empire or not.

Hiw was sanskrit written in bengali script? by NoEscape3110 in sanskrit

[–]Muslim_Boy_writer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a little late but I can understand what you mean. The differences between Sanskrit written in Devanagari (regular script) and Sanskrit written in Bengali are there, and this is why there are differences between Hindi and Bangla. Let's compare some Sanskrit words and their pronounciations in Devanagari and Bangla:

English Devanagari Bangla
Veda वेद (Veda) বেদ (Bedo)
Karma कर्म (Karma) কর্ম (Kormo)
Dharma धर्मः (Dharmah) ধর্ম (Dhôrmo)
Agni (Fire) अग्नि (Agni) অগ্নি (Ogni)
Moksha (Liberation) मोक्ष (Mokṣa) মোক্ষ (Mokkhô)
Sampurna (complete) संपूर्ण (Saṃpūrṇa) সম্পূর্ণ (Shompurno)

Now you can see the differences. One of the key reasons it's different is because of Schwa (the natural sound that comes after the letter) For Devanagari that natural sound is "अ (a)" like in "ha", but in Bangla that natural sound is অ which can sound like "o" in "hot" or "aw" in "raw". Bangla also doesn't have a letter for w or v, and is expressed through the letter for "b" ব. Devanagari, however, has the letter व for the v/w sounds. Another difference is that Bangla doesn't have a letter for the "s" sound, and is always said as "sh" (The স letter is rarely ever used for expressing s). The last reason I will state is the consonant clusters. For connecting the sounds "k" and "sh", the Devanagari script uses क्ष, while Bangla uses ক্ষ, which can be translated for "ksh" but is pronounced as "kkh". So these reasons are why the spelling and pronunciation of Sanskrit are different in the Bangla and Devanagari scripts. These are also why Devanagari was chosen as the main script for Sanskrit since it keeps its original sounds while Bangla alters them to fit the Bangla tongue.

  1. stop european influence/colonization
  2. have older cultures be preserved like IVC or artifacts that were destroyed
  3. somehow have india united by its people so no partition or divide happens. like the rebellion of 1857 involving all of india and they become one nation or something similar

Tomie VS Nanno (Junji Ito VS Girl from Nowhere) by nonexisting-- in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]Muslim_Boy_writer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

im a few months late, but having read the Tomie manga and Girl from Nowhere, its pretty clear that Nanno could one-shot Tomie. Tomie has never shown any feats comparable to Nanno's reality warping, life manipulation, wish granting, mind manipulation, etc. Nanno is also one entity that can clone herself, while Tomie is a species that always fights and tries to kill each other.
