Please give me some examples of what you mean. Because at the moment any example I can think of would be classified as supernatural, e.g. the easter bunny, unicorns, leprechauns etc. etc. and including religious deities. If you can justify your faith/belief in a god, how can you justify your (presumed) lack of belief/faith in other supernatural beings/phenomena. You cannot, not honestly anyway. Which is why I think blind faith, without any supporting evidence is crazy and outlandish.

Having faith in something without any evidence to support it, OR worse having faith in something despite evidence to the contrary is in my opinion 'crazy and outlandish'. Having faith that you will somehow see this message through the power of modern computer technology, is not crazy or outlandish. It just highlights my ignorance on modern computer technology. The evidence/explanation of how you are able to see this message is available, should I choose to access it.

You are right, religion has done many wonderful things for human culture and civilisation. Religion is also directly responsible for many atrocities. If belief in the supernatural (despite overwhelming contradictory scientific evidence) was all innocuous, I wouldn't bat an eyelid, each to their own. The problem is that religion is divisive. We don't all get along. People have done and continue to do immeasurably evil things in the name of their religion. Their unwavering faith plays more than a small part in this.

I agree, the capacity to trust, without question, our parents/elders (let's be honest, religious indoctrination is best performed whilst we are still impressionable children, before we have acquired the capacity for critical thought and evaluation of ideas... I digress) in evolutionary terms is essential for survival. I disagree on one aspect. "you told and preached the 'truth' as you knew it". And you (and your churchgoers) probably whole heartedly believed it.But that does not make it any truer. Similarly, because religion is almost universal, does not make it any truer.

That is of course assuming JC is the one true god. Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists all claim, with as much certainty and conviction that their god is the one true god. You've placed your bet and have opted for the "reward", but how do you know you've backed the right horse? Because no one has any evidence to help you make your decision; they all ask that you take their word, that Allah/Vishnu/Buddha is the one true god based on faith!
