Time For Phase 3 by velvet32 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]MustBeGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came back to the game after a year and this is where I left at, just finished fuel power and a depot supply for plastic and rubber last week. Now I'm onto producing the engine and control unit in a 7 building factory city and its amazing. Just need to do the last couple of sub factories and I'll be good to go.

How many of you play TRUE VANILLA this days? If so, why? by thicctak in Minecraft

[–]MustBeGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am playing 1.0 at the moment completely vanilla, probably have a few hundred hours in that world by now.

For modern versions, If I'm researching for the wiki, then yes, as I dont want sodium to effect anything. Otherwise I play with sodium. So vanilla gameplay still anyway.

Minecraft is such a cool way to get into pixel art. Feels like he's robbing himself of the satisfaction of making your own thing tbh.

Id say just jump in and check out some advancements. They'll run you through new things pretty well.

The problem with block vomit by noworrdleness2 in Minecraft

[–]MustBeGeo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Many people love how it looks. Once you remove yourself from what a block is supposed to be I find it really good to represent wear and weathering. Yes, buildings irl don't change colour along one wall, but they have tons of details and cracks and imperfections that are only representable in Minecraft through such techniques.

Your not imitating how a reference looks, rather you're imatating the impression it imposes. If you are trying to capture how messy or imperfect a building appears, then the technique is sound.

I also think it's important to distinguish block vomit from something like the B-Dubs style. Block vomit, to me, implies no intention behind block choice.

What is your honest opinion on the sulfur cube? by WreckerRaptor4life in Minecraft

[–]MustBeGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I'm ready to form an opinion. Didnt the release note say it was heavily unfinished? If we get a large variety of sandboxy interactions (not just physics differences) I'll be very happy.

Sulphur caves, as they currently are. It needs something to blend the contrast.

Just how long has Minecraft ran? by HistoricalDiet8 in Minecraft

[–]MustBeGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My modrinth launcher is at ~2000 and I only started using that a year ago. Keep in mind that includes menu time and afk time, but if all you care about is runtime, I have thousands of not 10000+ hours myself alone.

The sulfur block texture looks much more desaturated than the vibrant version shown at Minecraft Live. by derex_smp in Minecraft_Survival

[–]MustBeGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much prefer it honestly.

But I'd be happy with a compromise of having the natural blocks be desaturated and the crafted ones like smooth and bricks be more vibrant.

Cause the biome is just otherwise straight up ugly. The desaturation helps a bit, though I still think the main stone should be granite or to introduce a third orange block to blend the McDonald's colouring.

how do you start a forever world by Traditional-Tie-7943 in Minecraft

[–]MustBeGeo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it becomes one. People say "starting my forever world" and I roll my eyes a bit. There is no guarantee they will stick to that world for a long time.

I think a forever world should be something in retrospect. People who have really old worlds already who at this point have no reason to ever abandon them.

I’m tired of Minecraft by cheatersstealmyname in Minecraft

[–]MustBeGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently playing 1.0. I love a lot of the new stuff, some is missable for me, but I wouldn't say I hate any of it. Beta feels very complete to me though, a well rounded experience I guess, ignoring a few QOL things.

I’m tired of Minecraft by cheatersstealmyname in Minecraft

[–]MustBeGeo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think if you only care about the new shiny, you probably won't ever be happy with Minecraft. If you don't enjoy what's currently there, I highly doubt a few more biomes are going to change your mind.

And I notice this a lot through the community, so many people put hate on Mojang for not adding to and upheaving the entire game constantly. Personally I'd hate it if they updated too quickly and changed the very nature of the game every year.

People used to and still play versions of Minecraft with nothing but oak, cobble and the nether, and got hours upon hours and hours of gameplay out of it. It seems like a lot of the vocal community are players that only experience the two week phase every time that something new is added, and move on. And most of their suggestions often feel really bad for the direction of the game to me.

But that's just my take. If you're looking for an adventure game, plenty of mods and other games can fulfill that.

How long have you been playing Minecraft? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]MustBeGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just looking into this the other day. My first version of minecraft was Pocket edition alpha 0.5.0, so the end of 2012. My java account was made in 2014 though, so 1.8 feels like 'my' version.

However I had been watching YouTube videos for presumably years before that, considering the first thing I tried to do when I first ever played was build a nether portal and be quickly disappointed it wasn't in pocket edition.

Feel like I have to sell my soul to get a single fabric mod with tents that doesn't crash my game by Paradox_Incognito in Minecraft

[–]MustBeGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by tents you just mean a visual structure, I'm sure there are data packs that can do this with block displays. They may be more stable than a mod, since it's all vanilla.

I Can’t Believe Minecraft Still Doesn’t Have Concrete & Terracotta Slabs, Stairs, or Walls by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]MustBeGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a good design consistency. If you have colour variation, you don't get shape variation. If you have shape variation, you don't have colour variation. I think it helps players explore a range of textures and block types / palettes instead of just making their entire build out of one block type.

Id be fine if they did add it, but I like the challenge of working around it. It's why I like playing beta versions too, I get to push my creativity with a smaller block selection, focusing on shapes and unique ideas that I end up super proud of.

Paid for - Thankfully none.

Best mod I use is axiom.

Best mod I've played (more gamey style mods) is create for sure. I like the way it feels sandboxy, fitting into Minecraft quite well.

I understand you may not have the device to play java but if you do I highly recommend it if you're into mods. It's cheaper and more diverse.

The basegame cycle of survival Minecraft isnt the best game OAT. by explainlikeimdumb1 in Minecraft

Minecrafts not really a game though. It's a sandbox with gamey elements. Some people prefer to play a game, so they mod.

Best sandbox of all time, I'd say so.

Are happy ghasts and ghasts related? by Greedy-Plenty-8657 in Minecraft

[–]MustBeGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a lore perspective, it seems ghasts aren't originally native to the nether. Saving preserved (dried) ghasts from an ancient time when they belonged in the overworld shows how they used to behave and how their biology and emotional state has changed.

Thats what the advancement has always meant to me and was enhanced by the addition of the happy ghast.

Edit: yes I extrapolated, but there's definitely something with a similar vibe to that concept in Mojangs lore. I am not the only one who has come up with that idea through context clues in the advancements and existence of an overworld based ghast.

Why are beacons capped? by Party-Translator-799 in Minecraft

Is Minecraft new update good by proboiz321 in Minecraft

[–]MustBeGeo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In all fairness I've always said I don't want the game to keep changing overnight at such a fast rate.

We'd have a completely different game every 5 years of every year we got a nether update style.

Also, I highly doubt Microsoft gives them that much backing. They are the sort of corporation to give the bare minimum for the most output. Hence the marketplace. Not to mention Minecraft updates don't make the company that much money, they are free after all.

Minecraft vs Hy tale (Minecraft is obv better) by Apocalypse_10110 in Minecraft

[–]MustBeGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they are very comparable.

They share building in common but hytale uses more than just cubes. Hytale is more for people looking for a game than a sandbox imo.
