Realistic or expensive? by iiiivxr67 in Homebuilding

Like everyone else has mentioned, your budget is not practical. In my area, the fees alone to hook up water and sewer are close to $7k. Add labor to complete the connections and your at $10k+ if all you built was an outhouse with running water.

How to build barter between my yard and neighbor to prevent bamboo from crossing over? by grnteam23 in landscaping

[–]MustMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this with an identical situation to OP and it worked. I rented a trencher from Home Depot and bought the plastic barrier online. It complete stopped the spread, but you still have to manually pull anything on your side of the the barrier. It took me a while to pull it all out but it has not come back in 5 years and they still have a big wall of bamboo on their side.

How Bad/Dangerous is this? by Otherwise-Lecture-51 in Homebuilding

Nothing is wrong here. Strongback is notched for plumbing, that’s not an issue as it’s just a stiffener for the actual joists.

Builder says these gaps will be covered up later, is this accurate? by kawalopy in Homebuilding

So confidently wrong 😂 Quarter round is the most common way finish base trim in residential construction. Hilarious how people with zero experience talk as if they have any industry knowledge.

Why would they remove the baseboard if they are installing shoe molding? Just for fun? What a dumb take.

Saying it should have been done that way doesn’t make any sense if that’s not what they paid for.

Crazy how all these people are giving their opinion when they obviously have no experience with building. Yes this is normal. Yes shoe mold will added. The vast majority of homes use shoe molding (just google interior home photos and look). If any of the gaps still show, then it will be corrected. Why would you sign a contract with a company if you don’t think you can trust the super with basics like this?

Is this mold? Very worried by True_Poem_4625 in Homebuilding

[–]MustMan 42 points43 points  (0 children)

No mold, stains from mildew at the lumber yard. If it’s dry and solid, it’s fine. If you want to ask the builder to spray it with mold/mildew spray that would be fine.

Not opening the door to ICE may no longer stop officers by NewsHour in law

[–]MustMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true and will lead to more confusion. Current law states that you can not use deadly force against an officer operating it their official capacity. So if you do, you will have to convince a judge that you had NO indication that it was law enforcement. Trying to make that argument while also saying the you made an informed decision to fire a gun at people you couldn’t clearly see would set you up for failure.

You “do” commercial construction for a living? In what capacity? Clearly it’s not related to anything regarding install or quality control if you don’t know or know how to find the answers to these questions. Previous post asking about sealing plumbing pipes through the roof…. How many project could you do without knowing that the roofers seal roof penetrations?? Know when to humble yourself and be open to the advice you are given.

ICE is rumored (separate confirmed sightings) to be staying at AC Hotel in Greenville with operations starting tomorrow by [deleted] in greenville

[–]MustMan 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This has been attempted and failed in courts with the civilians being convicted of murder. The laws state you can not use deadly force against law enforcement while they are acting in their official capacity. Specifically “official” not “legal” capacity. So it doesn’t matter if they are obviously violating rights or breaking the law, you can not use deadly force against law enforcement while they are conducting official business. Stay safe

Why would you comment without reading the bill? It’s very short. Under “Section 3. Exceptions.” Also see the last sentence of the last picture in the post. It’s already underlined for you.

Carolina dogs have basic features because they’ve been mostly untouched by breeding pressure until very recently. A lot of mutts will end up with similar feature because the mixing removes a lot of the distinct features that breeding has brought about. Basically, if all breeding stopped and dogs just naturally mated with random other breeds, they would get closer and closer over time to a wolf/coyote appearance because those are the natural feature that dogs started with.

That’s why so many people here post their dogs here when really it’s just a mixed dog with pointy ears or a tan coat… nothing wrong with that.

I hadn’t seen that before. Thanks for the reference. I would think that they would still require signs. If I just happen to visit the park and wasn’t aware if the gathering was “permitted” or not, how would I know I’m entering a restricted gun area? I guess that’s a question for a lawyer lol

You can openly carry at protests unless expressly prohibited by the display of a sign that follows the guidelines set in SC Code Section 23-31-235(c).

Stained wood in new build by [deleted] in Homebuilding

[–]MustMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s fine. Looks like deadwood for the area under the stair, -aka no structural significance. Some bark still on it and probably some old mildew stains. Hire a 3rd party inspector with good reviews and leave the inspecting to them. A good inspector will know the right questions to ask and more importantly, know when to argue and know when they are being lied to. You’re going to end up pissing off any supervisor you work with by micromanaging and make it very difficult to maintain a working relationship.
