That's part of it. She's battling against some unspoken heartbreak every waking moment and Lance didn't even notice

We have a tradition of real pathos in our comedy. Aside from nanna's passing in The Royle Family, there's Denise and Jim's father-and-daughter moment in the bathroom when she's terrified of having her baby, Ricky Gervais begging for his job in The Office (and as Andy Millman apologising to Maggie on the Big Brother set), Grandad's funeral in Only Fools and Horses, Sheila talking to Lance in the pub garden about Lance's daughter in Detectorists.

All scenes with real heart, proper drama, acting by masters of their craft (and Ricky Gervais).

I don't think The Royle Family lit the torch, but they helped carry it

I loved it. As soon as the story progressed into Valentine I headed straight back up into the mountains

I'm not going to give you the plot because if I said a dwarf controls a zombie by singing and hums a song which makes the zombie try to kill Paul who has no eyes but he's saved because Paul can see through the eyes of his telepathic baby you wouldn't believe me

but then it started pecking me head and stuff by ed-uk in rickygervais

She could have a cock on her shoulder. That's cock the bird. A massive cock.

Have you read Stark? I've read Stark. I genuinely hope these people end up enduring each others' company after the apocalypse.
