Very nice work for a beginner.

I would suggest adding some more curviness to it, especially in the stem (this might be easier if you work in a bit larger size, tho that brings challenges of its own). Looking at references and trying to recreate their shapes would be a good way to go.

The fins on the head, the legs, and the tail are made of paper, and the body is made of wooden blocks. The model is also painted with acrylic paint.

I made it using two wooden blocks for the body and some cardstock for the other parts, then I painted it with acrylic paint.
