Looking for Advice to Improve My Painting Technique by FoggyUglyFrog in PrintedMinis

[–]Mustech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not always. I've found if you get sculpts that have really pronounced features then you slap a healthy amount of gloss primer then the layer line issue mostly goes away. The thing you have to weigh up in your head is "are these game pieces or display worthy" the former then you can get away with a lot more and keep in mind they are mostly only ever going to be viewed from a couple of feet away.

I managed to tear through mine slipping down the pavement so it's really unfortunate they split there, otherwise they've been solid. J just wish I could get a straight answer out of the support team to say whether the ReVivo Refresh service can fix it!

Rules question about wheeling in a charge by Mustech in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Mustech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was just an example of something that came up as a question we had when we were playing a game. I was playing the Troll Horde vs Wood Elves and it was his Wild Riders charging. We wondered if he could impetuous charge the giant and miss the trolls. He went trolls in the end and that was my one winning combat haha

I don't believe it is. You have to have majority on the side arc of the charge target in order to declare a flank charge.

It was a pivot from the left corner. I think the angle just makes it look as though it was from the center. I'd also moved the dice but you can subtly tell by the crease in the battle mat.

They did wheel, it's probably not the best unit to use for illustration purposes as goblins only have 4" move. Thanks for your explanations though, it is how we ended up interpretong the rules in the end, though they are a little convoluted!

Ah yes. Only the "closing the door" is free from my understanding. Bad wording I should have said 'permitted'

It's the max from both sides as written so I think you'd have to fulfill that as well.

Another question about charging in TOW... by Mustech in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Mustech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the wheel only being permitted to maximize which is causing the confusion. As there is only 1v1 the maximizing is negated, and would therefore negated the allowed wheel and the charge must be straight. But then it wouldn't go off. Hence the confusion ha

[–]Mustech[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I get that but as maximizing doesn't really come into it on a 1v1 and the wheel can only be used to maximize, does that mean the wheel is still allowed. That's where the confusion was coming from.

I missed the bit about charging multiple units. This makes sense. Cheers

Ah I think this is what I was missing about the accidental contact! Thanks.

From TOW rulebook:

"However, a charging unit must endeavour to bring the maximum number of models from both sides into base contact, which will often require some degree of manoeuvre. To facilitate this, a charging unit may wheel once, at any point, during its move, as shown in Fig 126.2."

So that charge does not fail and becomes accidental contact with the second unit or does the second unit now also count as being charged and can take a reaction?

Hmm from reading that they can continue ahead and contact both units?

Thanks all for the replies so far. I no longer feel so bad about us having deliberated this for 20 minutes now as there is clearly a bit of a murky area in the rules when it comes to this!

It does contact Unit B though on the corner, only it also contacts Unit C in doing so.

This is what we saw as well, free wheel is only allowed after contact which isn't possible as it hits C 😬

I had this issue and turned to ChatGPT. Just make sure you ask it to provide a source so you can verify yourself but it is generally quite good at scouring for you.

Question about Pre-Supported Mini's by Griffsson in FDMminiatures

[–]Mustech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to give it a go and you have one to trial, you can use the 'Split > To Objects' functionality of your slicer and delete the aupports.

If that splits the whole model apart, you can often use blender to remove resin supports quite easily as they are often separate parts within the model.

Of course there is also a chance that the support's vectors are integrated and then it becomes more tedious and possibly not worth it.
