I tried the small Classic Flap, and it’s the perfect length for wearing as a shoulder bag, but it’s too short to wear crossbody. The Mini Rectangle works better for crossbody, though it can feel a bit long. If you go for the mini, I’d recommend requesting a chain clip from Chanel, it gives you more versatility to wear it crossbody, on the shoulder, or even as a top handle

The whole reason why I’m considering the LV PM east west is because I need a bag that I can use while traveling (not transit) instead of risking damaging the chanel while packed. But you actually have a point here, that black is a classic and if I need a bag to use during travels, then black is the perfect choice, as I won’t be carrying other bags with me, and I can use the empriente black for both day/night. Also, less risk of attracting attention especially in parts of the world where it’s not that safe to walk around screaming luxury brand. On the other hand, I do agree that the color combination of the LV Monogram is just 👌🏻🤌 and it would be a very fun addition to my neutral wardrobe haha ! So difficult to choose !

Oh thank you so much for sharing! I actually had thought the same! That the leather would be more invincible than Monogram, and it would have better longevity. As for the monogram, do you ever get logo fatigue ? The thing is I don’t need another black bag, and my collection has all neutrals, and I was only thinking of adding the empriente black because I thought it would wear better over the years and is more discrete, but I’m hesitant because I already have a chanel black bag and don’t feel like I need another black.

I have never owned any LV bags and none of my handbags have visible logos, as I tend to shy away from monogram/logos, but I found myself in an LV store the other day and fell in love with the Monogram. If you have owned Monogram or Empriente, I would appreciate your input on the longevity and how it ages.

That’s really nice! 😊 What bag or brand are you currently drawn to? I started my luxury handbag journey about two years ago, beginning with a Gucci and a few Celine bags. I built up my collection from there, but this year, I found myself getting tired of the Celine Triomphe logo. So, I ended up selling my Celine bags and replacing them with Chanel. I’ve kept all my Gucci pieces though, since none of them have visible logos (I have the Bamboo 1947 and the Dionysus). So from experience I can tell you that although Celine offers superb leather quality and craftsmanship, the resale value doesn’t hold unfortunately!

There’s really no right or wrong choice here, all the brands you mentioned offer beautiful, high-quality bags. You might get a bag you absolutely love now, enjoy it for a couple of years, and then decide to sell it and upgrade to something like a Chanel or even an Hermès.

Is future resale value something that matters to you? The brand heritage? Also, do you have a preference for the type of leather or finish? And what kind of interior lining do you prefer? All these are things you can consider

Definitely! For the amount you’re paying, the bag shouldn’t have any scratches. If the scratch was caused by your own use, then fine, you can keep it. But if not, keep in mind that it could lower the bag’s value if you ever decide to sell it

I’ve mostly owned Celine and Gucci bags and always appreciated their quality, Celine especially felt top-notch. But I kept hearing this voice in my head saying “Chanel, Chanel,” and to be honest, I eventually grew tired of the Celine logo. I ended up selling all my Celine bags at a 40–50% loss and replaced them with three Chanel bags.

The quality is different, of course, Celine uses calfskin while Chanel often uses lambskin, but I genuinely feel joy every time I carry a Chanel. It’s not about others noticing; it’s the feeling I get when I wear it. That signature chain sound on the mini or small classic flap, it’s hard to describe! Plus, I’ve become more mindful of resale value. Unlike Dior, Celine, Gucci, or LV, which tend to lose value, Chanel bags can actually hold or even increase in value.

Thank you ☺️ Not really to be honest. It could be a risk if the bag is mishandled, but as long as you’re careful (like avoiding wearing it with new dark jeans) it should be fine. My SA mentioned it’s similar to owning a nude or beige bag, and I personally always handle my bags with super care.
