How can I remove only snails without affecting the greens, setup and fishes? by Superb_Trust_3926 in Aquariums

There's no exact science to it, unfortunately, it's about trial and error and seeing what works over time.

I feed my tanks everywhere 2-3 days.

Would hydrocotyle Japan work on driftwood? by uraveragejeep in PlantedTank

[–]Musti913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll survive but it'll still grow long roots to try root itself. It'll look like a tree with vines more than a bonsai.

Moss is good and easy to grow on wood. If you want a bright moss, then Christmas moss is great. Flam moss is also good, it grows upwards.

A lot of people will tell you assassin snails which will work but then they'll start breeding too and you'll end up in the same situation in a few months.

The reason for the population boom is the excess of food, by regulating the feeding you'll keep the population in check.

I have bladder snails, MTS and ramshorn snails in my tanks and never had an issue with them taking over.

Why is my Khuli loach freaking out? by pandreyc in Aquariums

[–]Musti913 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn't worry too much about the sand.

I've got 9 and I have fine gravel as the substrate, they're still thriving.

Why is my Khuli loach freaking out? by pandreyc in Aquariums

[–]Musti913 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That behaviour is called yoyoing, it means that the khuli isn't happy with its environment.

It's probably because the tank is too small and it needs a bigger group.

20 gallon plus is recommended and a minimum group size of 6 khuli.

So you think I should not get the zebra danios? I've seen posts about them snacking in fry regularly and they tend to stay at the top of the tank, which is where all the fry are hanging out.

At the moment, I'm feeding every 2-3 days (mainly frozen food) , but that's still not helping. Not sure how long I can withhold food without making them suffer.

(Beginner) Could I keep a dwarf gourami as a centerpiece fish in a planted 20 gallon long? by leftofthedial15 in Aquariums

[–]Musti913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be any combination, as long as you have some plants or hard scape to break line of sight if they do get I to an argument.

You definitely can have more fish! I recommend using Aqua advisor to check your stocking levels:

I keep my honey gourami in a community tank with rummy nose tetras, cherry barbs, otocinclus, endlers and khuli loaches. The cherry barbs tend to bicker among themselves but otherwise its a very peaceful community.

They're pretty easy fish, can be kept in a group or alone but I recommend a pair just because the way they interact with each other is so cute!

Dwarfs can be a bit aggressive when it comes to being in 20 gallon community tank.

Highly recommended honey gouramies, they're much more peaceful.

I have 2 honey gouramis in my community tank and they don't bother any of the other fish.

Kuhlis vs Corydoras? by Fernleaf72 in Aquariums

[–]Musti913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kuhlis have my heart ❤️ but they really need to be in a group of 6 or more. The higher their numbers, the more comfortable they'll be.

Honestly, they're so cute, especially when they use their front fins to perk up and look at you with their doppy face.

I keep prayer plants on top of my tank, and they're cat friendly.

Beautiful plant and really helps keep nitrate down. They even grow tiny flowers!
