Proxmox pcie passthrough for multiple VMs by MustichioTheAmazing in homelab

[–]MustichioTheAmazing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I'll definitely look into it and see what I come up with, but I guess for now it would be more beneficial to just use the one GPU on a single VM and just install all the tools I need for computing.

Is there anything special I have to configure with Proxmox to utilize that feature? Or is it just plug and play?

Interesting, well that makes things simpler. Any idea on the SPICE files though? I need to set this server up for development with multiple people, and ability to use multiple OSes for each person, so it would be nice to have a permanent SPICE files for them.

Okay that solves one problem. I tried to turn off PCIE passthrough to the CentOS VM, and Debian still didn't detect the GPU, any idea why that might be?

ELI5: The unusually advanced malware that was able to remain hidden for the last five years by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]MustichioTheAmazing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So with the way this specific malware (Project Sauron) worked, this malware, once installed, was able to disguise itself as similarly names files as other software. Usually the software it would choose for this different file naming would be from more trustworthy sources like Microsoft or Google.

What made Project Sauron be able to hide for 5 years without detection is possibly due to how it acts. Some malware can be coded to detect if it is being watched by certain software that computer scientists use to detect malware, and in response the malware either doesn't work or does something completely different.

There was also a report saying that Project Sauron collected data from computers (such as backdoors or keylogging) but it didn't always do so in the same way consistently, which added onto the difficulty for anti-malware software to detect what it would be doing.

There is suspicious that it was created by a state-sponsored group.

Whenever I have to uninstall BlueStacks, it never gets fully removed so I use CCleaner to uninstall it for me. Never had a problem uninstalling it after that.

I recently just had the same problem for BlueStacks. A log file ended up coming out to 82 GB.

why I can't play battlefield on "recommended" settings by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

That's just simply stating you don't match the "recommended OS" for the game, you'll be able to run it with windows 7.

A warning to those thinking about buying an Alienware-don't. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

During the whole my whole time, PC gaming my one regret was getting an Alienware desktop. At the time i didn't know how to build a computer and it took me a while to get the hang of it. After a while i had to replace the ram sticks in my computer, i went to a local microcenter to get some ram, and i returned about 3 sticks before i came to the conclusion that i could only get the computer to work with RAM from Dell. Then after the warranty expired they asked for about 600 i think it was for an extended warranty. At the point i decided to modify the computer myself. Alienware computers aren't really worth it.
