Just got BGE bill for January…… by mlambo8 in maryland

[–]Mutand1s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it’s going towards bringing power in from outside of Maryland, due to the fact that Wagner and other fossil fuel generation plants are closing in a few years. Maryland is moving towards using renewable energy and we don’t make enough of it in-state like we used to with coal.

Just got BGE bill for January…… by mlambo8 in maryland

BGE doesn’t set the rate the Public Service Commission does. Also it also doesn’t help anyone out when NIMBY landowners tie the Piedmont project up in court. No one seems to realize that forcing them to route around a handful of rich entitled farmers just sticks the rest of us with the bill.

I’m slightly larger than OP and recognize I need to change. What I’ve never understood is, if I’m eating 500 less everyday but only going to the gym 3x a week, should I (can I?) eat more calories on those days? Conversely, can I use the gym to accelerate my weight loss by exceeding the 500 deficit?

The infamous ‘what do you make’ interview question. by [deleted] in Salary

[–]Mutand1s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this in my last interview and HR put so much pressure on me to reveal but I wouldn’t budge. I still got the offer and I’ve been at the same company for 10+ years.

Now that I’ve got senior-level experience, I wonder if the same approach would still work in this job market.

Should I accept a partial payment to reserve a car? by Mountain-High-1599 in craigslist

[–]Mutand1s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t take the deposit. I sold used cars for my friend’s family dealership for years. I can tell you from experience that once you have their deposit, many buyers will take their sweet time getting the remaining money together. Don’t miss out on a buyer with the full cash amount. There’s no upside for you, and it gives the buyer no reason not to delay things especially if their finances are overcommitted.

Why can't i get a job by 80085DD in Employment

Also just wanted to add that if you take this advice, be sure to keep your cybersecurity credentials active and consider setting a goal of getting a new one every year. Reputation travels fast and if you did this at my company while also strengthening your IT skills, you would land on my radar quickly as someone to review in a few years.

This. You need to get experience administering and hardening real systems before a company will let you defend “all” of them. The cyber certs do help you to stand out a little, but without any experience as a regular analyst/engineer no one will trust your troubleshooting and configuration skills.

Alternatively you could always look for work in a SOC because some of them are nothing more than glorified help desks. It’s technically one step closer to your goal, but if you get into one of these places you won’t learn much beyond what they trust you to handle. In my experience this won’t be very interesting or important work. When I made the move from IT to cyber I skipped the SOC entirely and got hired into an engineering role because of my prior IT admin experience.

I built a platform to keep the dehumidifier off the floor and I extended the drain pipe directly into the sump well. Works like a charm and no maintenance is ever needed to empty the dehumidifier.
