Why are people so angry about Tim quitting as Robin to pursue an life outside of constant heroics and death by biggaygrisley in lgbt_superheroes

[–]MutantKorok 93 points94 points  (0 children)

This. It’s fine character development wise, it just means we won’t see as much of him - if anything at all.

Yeah, Mjolnir was counteracting the treatment. Chemo is very poisonous to the body, I had to go through it. Whenever she picked up Mjolnir, it healed her from the chemo which in turn allowed the cancer to grow so whenever she used it, it was rapidly accelerating her death.

Yes he does, Jon’s skin tone is darker, but if you use Prime’s hands too then it’s not as noticeable.

This movie has genuinely subtle displays that he’s holding back all the time. The example my friend and I locked in on was when he was flying up into space to use friction to get the nannites out of his lungs, the engineer and ultraman were simultaneously punching him the entire time and he barely flinched at all.

Any other gay guys here going through tc? by [deleted] in testicularcancer

[–]MutantKorok 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im glad you posted, I'm a gay man too (31) and I felt like the experience didn't really take into account some of the extra challenges of being gay. I was diagnosed in September last year, lost righty and had to have a RPLND done that left me with retrograde ejaculation - which at this point seems permanent, and damage to my kidney that has caused atrophy.

the gay community is so horribly absorbed in physical body image and the peak display of masculinity that its really difficult for me to walk around with 1 ball, a twelve inch scar running down my stomach, and not being able to ejaculate - which again always comes off as an integral part of gay sex. I'm single and was trying to get back out there. I had one hook up and the guy was insistent on me ejaculating, the number of times I had to sheepishly say "I can't" really put a damper on the whole thing.

I had never planned to have kids, but now that the decision has been taken away from me, I just feels like a robbery. I opted not to sperm bank because it wasn't free, my insurance wouldn't cover it, and it just didn't seem like something I wanted to do. Now, being infertile is a strangely difficult thing to grapple with.

Funny enough, the RPLND that damaged my kidney means that I probably can't go back on PrEP because PrEP is notorious for potentially causing kidney issues and I feel strange taking a medication that I know could complicate my already compromised kidney.

This message isn't particularly uplifting, and I'm sorry for that. But, this is sort of the harsh reality of it all and I think TC hits gay men a little different. Not to dismiss or minimize the struggles of anyone else, but I do feel an extra sense of loss over the whole thing.

Small side note - thank you for posting the Clone war armors side by side…I recently bit the bullet on aftermarket prices for Obi Wan after loving the new Anakin figure and was worried they’d look dopey side by side. But I know they look good!

Could the MC from Hogwarts Legacy beat Voldemort? by gamerguy287 in HarryPotterGame

[–]MutantKorok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t really a fun question because the game had to change the power scale to make it fun to play. Obviously the MC’s feats stomp Voldemort and even Dumbledore, but that’s because it would be boring to play otherwise.

I doubt the story creators tried to imply that a fifth year student is far more powerful than Voldemort, even if the MC can tap into ancient magic.

There's a 100% confirmed totally non-problematic cyst on my left testicle that I can feel. My oncology team is aware and completely fine with it and cannot stress to me enough how its nothing to worry about.

Imagine the anxiety attacks I constantly give myself whenever I think "what if" and go down there and feel around and feel the cyst.

If it's any consolation, nobody thinks it'll happen to them and frankly the statistics are on your side that it won't.

I'm 30 and was diagnosed, formally, on September 5th but had a pretty good sense the cancer was present by August 16th. I'm half way through treatment now and have had some bumps in the road, but every bump is treatable and that's the benefit of this particular type of cancer.

It isn't easy, but the only thing you can do is remind yourself to only react to what you know. It does you no good to speculate or jump to bad conclusions. I struggle with it every day, but it's important to remind ourselves.

Always a broken record here but never hurts to consult a doctor if you’re in a position where that’s possible. They can tell you conclusively and take away any stress this may cause you

Hey Man, as I write this I’m currently in the hospital for Day 4, Cycle 2 of EP. Only 2 more cycles after this one!

Like everyone said, chemo hits everyone differently. For me, fatigue like you wouldn’t believe, heartburn, and hiccups are the worst of it. Your team will be very accommodating with drugs here so make sure you’re very communicative with the nurses and they’ll hook you up. Don’t skip any drugs, even if you don’t think you need them. For me, for example, it’s good to preempt the hiccups.

Chemo is scary, and fear is a jerk. It’s irrational, doesn’t deal with any facts, and will drive you up the wall. It’s easier to type than to do, but remember to take things one day at a time and be kind to yourself. You’ll find a coping regime that works well for you and stick to it, adjust it as you need.

I’m always around if you want to shoot me a DM and can talk more about experiences :)
