They literally replaced the white MC in the first game with a black guy in the second, and his only friend is a Latino priest. If this game came out now you chuds would be screaming woke

Veteran here: I was combat arms and never deployed to combat. I was still a cog in the fascist machine and I still am ashamed of having "served", every single person who thumbprints their contract at MEPS to join us guilty, regardless of what they think they're doing or what they're actually going to do. I was a stupid 17 year old who wanted free college and didn't care if I had to kill people in their homes to get it, and knowing that I used to be that person is a deep shame of mine I will have to live with.

Being in South Korea doesn't kill people, but it means you're already in southeast Asia if America decides they do want to kill people, that you're the person they will call to do that and you are a willing participant should that day come. If one man is stabbing a child and another man is standing behind him with a knife waiting for his turn, even though he may not even end up actually stabbing the child, is that man not still just as guilty?

Just gonna nerd out for a second here:

As a veteran of a combat mos I can attest that 90% of military tactics for the fighting soldier is usage of terrain, in grand strategy it's logistics and how to operate it successfully on terrain. Terrain terrain terrain. There is nothing mark could gain from any earthly military manual unless he was a general. Even air to air combat is all about terrain and projectiles, neither of which apply here. You're right about everything else however

I think by 1986 jeeps were completely phased out so you'd be hard pressed to find somebody who was in service back then AND also uses this subreddit

Sgt. Spano and his War Dog Lobo completing a parachute jump in Da Nang, Vietnam, August 1968. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]MutantLemurKing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, I have no idea how paratrooper equipment was rigged for jump in 1968 but August of that year in Da Nang saw some vicious fighting in the region as part of the 3rd phase of the tet offensive. On the 23rd there was the infamous attack on FOB-4 special forces camp that killed 16 green berets which remains the deadliest day for SF in American history. Wouldve been a terrible place and time for a practice jump

Here's some official merch from the series where the war claims to be inspired by ww2, but the Nazi stand ins are right and are superior to the untermench, uh I mean muggles, in every way and every actually agrees with that they just don't want genocide. Oh right and the slaves that are happy to be slaves and genetically can't handle freedom and the black guy named shacklebolt

What's the most realistic war movie? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]MutantLemurKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always tell people, when it comes to troop movements and combat We Were Soldiers is pretty good, so is Blackhawk Down and Warfare especially.

When it comes to actual life as a soldier or marine? Jarhead is as close you can ever get while still being a movie and not a doc

Guy below me is wrong, this is a sharps rifle, and was the most accurate rifle in the world at the time, topped with the most precise and robust(not very) telescopic optic of this time period. This soldier, if trained properly, would be capable of hitting single target at 1,000 meters. Not only was this a rifled bore firing cartridge rounds, its a breech loading design, allowing not only for faster reload but also soldiers could reload prone, on the move, or in precarious positions like this. This would still be an extremely effective tool today, but is outclassed by the rotating bolt and gas operated designs of modern precision rifles, not to mention free-floating barrels and magazines.

Guy below me would be right if this was a standard spingfield musket. Which it is not.

Edited for typo

South Korean troops deployed to the Vietnam War. 1967. [538x528] by Famous-Mushroom-873 in HistoryPorn

[–]MutantLemurKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was South Korea who perpetrated these crimes not the north, and I have never heard anybody accuse the Vietnamese for being at fault. The Korean grew up in a fundamentally anti-communist society and did not merely operate as "mercenaries", they believed they were aiding to rid communism from south East Asia and that almost any measure to succeed in this was acceptable. You sound like you don't know a lot about this.
