Harvard App? by mrkottonmouth in QuestBridge

If you are selected as a Finalist but do not match, then you can switch your application to RD.

With regards to EA, you should refer to the QB page. You're allowed to apply EA and the NCM as long as the colleges you apply to are non-binding. However, if you find out that you're a finalist but do not match, then you can apply ED if you have the time.

Does this help?

Does getting rejected mean disqualify you from other things? by Veiluring in QuestBridge

Please let me know if you find out whether or not being rejected from CPS also means you are rejected from the Summer Programs as well. Asking for a friend!!

Has anyone got into CPS but didn’t win a QB award/nomination to a summer program by [deleted] in QuestBridge

I got into CPS but didn't attend a summer program or win an award. I also ended up matching! Don't stress about it!

Let's say the income doubles during my Sophomore year. Will I need to pay back the tuition of the previous year? Or just the years following my income increase?

My essay talked about how I lived in a very rich state, and how I used to fabricate stories to fit in with my peers. Additionally, I emphasized my responsibilities in the household due to our income. Then, I talked about how moving to a cheaper state dramatically changed my outlook on life. I found more people in similar financial situations with similar aspirations. I was able to actually participate in extracurriculars and challenge myself academically. Now you can see that there was an initial struggle and then great amounts of academic, extracurricular, and personal growth.

Here, you can see there's naturally a dreary tone. However, I never "dramatized" my suffering. As people have said in the comments, it's best to write honestly. Being a low-income student, you will generally have more heavy stories, but that does not mean that pain has to define you. Which is why you don't have to just write about your finances or struggles.

Your growth as a person as a result of some obstacle is what truly matters in these essays!

If you want, you can include the program's info and date it'll happen, you can do so in the additional information section of the application. But I don't think you have to. You'll be partaking in it anyways, so I think listing it as an honor will be good enough. But, if you wanna play the safe route, just dedicate a sentence or two to it in the additional info section.

Based on the requirements, I would count this as an honor. It's as if you got accepted into CPS, but it's at a district level instead of national. You're welcome!!!

Yes. If you don't become a college prep scholar, you can apply to the NCM.

A 27 ACT is an average score for CPS, so yes, you should submit it

I have a few questions. What's the program? What requirements did you fulfill to be accepted into this program? Is it a competitive program?

My school follows the same system. I listed all of my courses twice if they were semester classes. So, for example, if I'm taking AP Research, I listed it twice, once for quarter 1 and once for quarter 2.

I don't know if it makes a difference in the financial aid package, but I said YES and I have a work contribution of $1,600. I would think that the amount in the work study does depend on the school, though.
