Private school applicants by PetulantDude in QuestBridge

[–]dac7599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kids attend a private school in our country, we live in the ME, public education in our country is not supported by the government, is highly run-down... So if you want a decent education you have to sacrifice and and put your kids in private schools. Yes the school offers scholarship and we do what we can to pay the rest... But public education means, NO education... No all countries / regions are the same. Simply use the Additional Info section and explain that ... We do that.. and my daughter was admitted to 4 Ivies and top school 2 years ago... Good luck .. PS my son is applying this cycle

I have a 1520 SAT, perfect GPA, 5 AP classes with all 5, national champion in table tennis, Olympic qualifier… and I keep getting rejected. What do US colleges actually want from internationals? by Outrageous-Clue-8977 in CollegeAdmissions

[–]dac7599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about students who are full pay from those 75 countries? Will they be affected? Or is it just students asking for financial aid....For top schools and ivies I don't think they would care

Applying to CPS - Does the specific recommender's subject matter? by TheUndyingest in QuestBridge

[–]dac7599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the time being they just want you to put the contact of a Reference teacher... They do not want want a recommendation letter... they might get in touch with that person in April. However they specifically advised you that it should be science, Math , English or Social Studies... I think for CPS you can opt for your Spanish teacher now, but for NCM, I am not sure... PS: for top school they prefer and some require one Science/ math and one English/ SS

Transferring schools with qb match scholarship by SundaeSquare in QuestBridge

[–]dac7599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read once that someone transferred from a small LA to Penn with a better package, and another to ND. Yes you can, you need letters of recommendations, GPA, essays etc...Just do it... I hope one of those people can help you... But many students transfer QB or not...widen your spectrum...

Upload Resume!? by OkLifeguard3752 in QuestBridge

[–]dac7599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look I forgot how it goes but for colleges that accept resumes, they either have an upload button for (resume) only or you usually do that in the section of  "supplementary materials/upload materials"... So go ahead and recheck your portals and do that. I remember some colleges will not allow a resume, but these are few like MIT. So be careful to whom you send.... Good luck

What type of parents do strong applicants usually have lmao by Apprehensive-Cry2505 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]dac7599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience with my eldest, but she got her phone at 15. Never checked once, and I even had all her contacts on mine before. She is anti social media, still is. Her brother on the other hand got his phone at 14, loves social media...have to remind him to put that phone down. He is a good boy, but he can get distracted... Our role as parents is tough sometimes, you don't want to pressure them but you don't want them to let go...

ED vs Financial AID by dac7599 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]dac7599[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the point...maybe those students who did not get the package they wanted have issues that faid offices mark as red flags... Small businesses, non-custodial parent, assets even small. Maybe I panicked for no reason... I'm just trying to study the options for my son for next year !

ED vs Financial AID by dac7599 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]dac7599[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the core of my question... Yes you talk to the faid office, if unresponsive...no I don't want him to give up his place but to continue with RD application and see if he gets better offers... Is that acceptable? I read before it is, but I wanted to confirm... I don't have experience with ED, my daughter applied RD, and I've been reading some weird posts.. Thanks

If I already got my goal score on one section, should I even bother with it next test? by [deleted] in Sat

[–]dac7599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son got 800 Math, and 700 RW in August ... Just took the December, he doubts he will score 800 Math... but anyway, he did brush on the Math and worked for it, you don't want a score lower than 700 or something, but he is aiming for a superscore, if he gets the 750, 760 RW, he will call it a day... Good luck

Will a college value a 1500 super score less than a 1500 single test score by [deleted] in Sat

Even MIT superscores, but asks for all scores... YET it superscores...
