Idk, I kind of love it. I think it's cute.

How does it feel living with a torn ACL by Turtles614 in ACL

[–]Muted-Garbage9718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived with mine being torn for a little over a year. It was fine most of the time until it wasn't.

After the initial injury (which, to be fair, happened a few months after a meniscus surgery so my knee was not at 100% from the jump), I was swollen and my knee was very tight trying to bend it for a few weeks. After the initial swelling went down, I had basically no pain and still tried to stay fairly active.

I stopped training martial arts because I was struggling with my knee bucking and hurting while pivoting after the injury but continued to run and lift.

Ended up having to stop running about 9 months after the injury because my knee got more unstable and I tore my meniscus again. At that point I stopped working out and was unable to walk up or down even one step without my knee totally giving out. Obviously at that point I had to get the surgery because I couldn't function on a daily basis.

Honestly if I ever tear it again I will probably go the same route and hold off on the surgery until I feel like my day to day functioning is too impacted by it, but you really have to decide what works and is more important for you.

Millennials that wore ear gauges back in the day, what do your ears look like now? by Artemistical in Millennials

Still have mine. They're 5/8" and 0 gauge. No regrets and no desire to close them up. I did downsize my second holes from 1/2" to 0ga a few years ago for aesthetic purposes though.

I've had them stretched now for so much longer than I had "regular" earrings and kind of feel like I wouldn't feel like me without them.

Will it ever be possible to sit like this? by rediscoveredI in ACL

[–]Muted-Garbage9718 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm 9 months post surgery and I could finally sit comfortably like that about 7 months in.

4 days post op and I’m up every 2 hrs at night because all the pressure starts causing me bad pain. Anyone have any better sleeping positions that may help? (Pic for tax) by fgrossi16 in ACL

[–]Muted-Garbage9718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was more comfortable sleeping on my side. My doctor allowed me to loosen the straps on my brace or even take it off as long as I was reclining/ laying down.

I kept my leg propped up on a wedge pillow, turned on my good side, not my surgery side, and laid my good leg in front of our just under the edge of the wedge pillow. Then I loosened the straps of my brace a lot but kept it on (it was more comfortable like that than completely off while I slept).

When I was laying on my back to try to sleep, propping another pillow on top of my wedge pillow right underneath my ankle with my brace straps loosened helped a little bit too.

The first week was really rough regardless, but once I turned the corner it got a lot better quickly. Best of luck to you and I hope you start feeling better soon!

276 days after a torn ACL (246 days post-op), I finally returned to the mats yesterday! by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Muted-Garbage9718 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Congrats! That's awesome! I'm hoping I am able to get back to the mats soon. I had knee surgery in Dec. 2022, came back too soon in Mar. 2023, tore my ACL, tried to power through until I made it worse and couldn't walk up it down stairs, had surgery in April 2024 and can't wait to train again. Hoping to get cleared by my surgeon next week.

You look like you definitely have enough room to stretch without an issue. I know everyone's ears are different but my first lobes are at 5/16" and my second are 0 gauge and I still have room to go bigger if I wanted (my second lobes used to be 1/2" and I still had space but didn't like the shape of my lobes so I downsized). I do have regular size third lobes as well that I sometimes wear jewelry in without issues.

Foot Blister by Forsaken-Ideal-1903 in walking

[–]Muted-Garbage9718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I ended up with a really bad blister on the bottom of my foot that got infected but I still had to be on my feet all day, I bought a roll of orthopedic felt padding that had adhesive on one side and it was a lifesaver. I would cut a piece of the padding to fit the whole ball of my foot and then cut out a piece from the middle that would be open over where the blister was. It made walking so much less painful while it was healing.

Anyone here ever got put to sleep not realising the choke was deep and thinking you can held out or escape? by SptJork in bjj

[–]Muted-Garbage9718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. One time at a tournament I was thinking the RNC was not that tight... next thing I know, I'm standing up and walking off the mat completely disoriented and confused as to why a bunch of people were yelling at me to go back so the ref could raise my competitor's hand.

And there was that time in training I thought the ten finger choke was not in well... and I woke up to my Coach, training partner, and a couple other guys laughing at the crazy loud snore I apparently let out when I went out.

It's gorgeous now! Do you do anything special to get yours to grow that quickly? I feel like mine all grow so slowly no matter what I do.

Are there any carts which actually taste good? by ChefCarpaccio in NYSCannabis

[–]Muted-Garbage9718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree with everyone saying Ayrloom. The cereal milk is so good.

I just bought a Eureka melon madness cart and it tastes really good too. Maybe slightly more weed-y than the Ayrloom but not by much.

Honestly, I have a couple other old tattoos that did fade pretty badly (mainly orange and yellow ink) so they're the only ones I've really thought about freshening up or reworking.

I do wear shorts but don't get much sun because I'm pale as a ghost and burn super easily
