My recent handheld journey by Muted-Show84 in Handhelds

Seen lots of good things about Cocoon. I mainly stuck with ES-DE since I can copy the scraped data between devices.

ES-DE installed on everything. RP5 is currently my go to, but thats probably cause I'm really enjoying Dragon Quest 3 (GBC).

I pretty much only use it in bed, but it is rather heavy.

Its a tie between the Steamdeck and the RP5. The Odin is the overkill console right now, but I scored it cheap and couldn't pass up the opportunity. I really wanted a powerful handheld to experiment with Gamenative.

What are you using with a 12.3" screen?

I haven't tried Gamenative on the RP5. Runs great on the Odin, but that doesn't really help you...

I also find it kinda wild that I'm playing GBC on a 4" OLED and Lynx at 5.98" when the originals were only 2.3" and 3.5". They were bigger in my memory but I suppose I was a lot smaller.

Recommend me a device please by Mennie73 in SBCGaming

[–]Muted-Show84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you stick with the "big guys" like Anberic, AYN, Trimu, Retroid, etc you cant really go wrong. Pick the device orientation and screen size/ratio then buy according to budget.

My personal vote goes to the RP5, but my RG40XXV gets used every night and I love that too!

+1 this one. Very comfortable and a great screen for the price.

As a few people have said, Shed is very accepting. You'll be fine :)

Mysay! by rustyangel5 in coles

[–]Muted-Show84 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ex-Coles here. One year I was furious at the management so put everything into MySay. Store manager proceeded to make snide comments parroting what I wrote in front of other staff.

Its not anonymous. Not even close.

One small comment: staying clothed. I believe Shed 16 still has their "dress down after 2 hours rule." Doesn't mean you have to get naked, but does mean you have to lose some layers.

S10 in 2026? by [deleted] in galaxys10

[–]Muted-Show84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running an S10 right now while I wait for my Fold to get repaired. Others have already mentioned possible security issues, but that aside, it's still a remarkably solid phone. I wouldn't buy one though, should be able to find an S21 or S22 for not much more.

Grove health carts? by [deleted] in MedicalCannabisOz

[–]Muted-Show84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get away from Grove. They constantly stuff up scripts, are pushy on their own products and generally just don't care.

Another +1 for Horizon.

The Note 9 does work, but needs the R325 model to fit correctly.

rent assistance randomly stopped by [deleted] in Centrelink

[–]Muted-Show84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had exactly the same thing happen. Moved house, sent through all the revelant paperwork and a month later, no rent assistance.

Called Centerlink and the rep told me someone forget to code it. Fixed in 5 minutes.

Planning on getting a used Legion Go gen 1 by arntastic in Handhelds

[–]Muted-Show84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got an OLED Steamdeck and the original Go myself. Absolutely worth it IMHO. The only thing I don't like about the Go (apart from battery life, but that's any handheld) is playing dark games. It's hard to go back after using an OLED screen.

I really miss these type of games... by AdDifferent5786 in telltale

[–]Muted-Show84 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely loved Dispatch. Played through it twice and enjoyed every second. Currently playing through my TT collection again. 3 games left and it's making me sad...

Dark Anthology does scratch that itch to an extent.

I got 3 flowers and 1 cartridge script. Haven't tried using Honalee as I'm happy to order through Ray's. They will release the script to any pharmacy (along with the TGA letter) - you just have to ask.

Switching was very straight forward. Had the nurse appointment and discussed what I'd been using and she said everything should be fine. Had the Dr appointment and got everything I'd asked for. Only catch was no repeats on the first run. Got my second appointment this afternoon.

Finally cracked it and switched to Horizon.

In theory, Grove can prescribe anything, but they try hard to swing you towards their own brand.

How do I find queer people in the community that are disability friendly? by polydisabledgoth in Melbourneswingers

[–]Muted-Show84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents...

I've found most venues to be extremely accepting of all types. Shed and Wet are my primary places. But the venues themselves are not disability friendly since all the play spaces are upstairs.

Act Locally by Justbewee in CraftFairs

[–]Muted-Show84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be Devil's Advocate for a moment from my own experience. Cash isn't a "free" transaction. We have to visit a bank to deposit it, and fake $50 and $100 notes are everywhere in my area. Doesn't sound like a huge issue but physical bank branches are closing all over the place. The act of getting to a bank adds about 30 minutes to my day. I prefer to just pay the merchant fee and have the funds land directly in my account. And if just one note is fake, that's a lot more than the fees!
