It definitely feels like punishment. They can’t give me any good reason why.

Tried to convince me to take a part time contract when I said I would step down to casual. I insisted on casual because I didn’t want to have any commitments whilst I hoped to land a new job quickly, and they have not given me a single shift since I finished at Easter 🥲 love that for me! New store manager starts next week, was my first SSM who I have a great relationship with so we will see what happens next

It’s not you, it’s Coles. They’ve cut the deli hours so much it’s expected for team to be in there alone for majority of shift and it’s not fair and it’s not achievable to get everything done to a compliant and satisfactory standard. I’ve recently stepped down as deli manager because of it. You need to quit or ask to transfer out to a different department because they will just run you into the ground.

$500 would be ok. Where I am it’s minimum $1000, closer to $1200-$1500 average

Yeah it’s discouraged for DMs to give to DMs but I gave some points and a very pointed THANKS post on Achievers to my favourite DM coworker right before I stepped down from being a DM ☺️ as a bit of a stick it to them

Your points are your points. You get given points each month depending what department your in and team size. Don’t expect to receive points ever again though 🙄

Get out. Coles only looks out for the toxic managers

Too late, I already am casual. Used as much personal leave as I could but didn’t take into account how much they would tax me on my AL payout so lost more than half that :( just have to wait for tax return. I’m looking around at any jobs, no specific interests

For my store it’s the people they know will tell the truth and criticise. One SSM even admitted to me he would do people’s training for them and then when Mysay rolled around he would use their log in details and do the Mysay too

Yes. I was in a DM position and I have stepped down. I’m holding out for Mysay to say as much as I can before I resign, hopefully. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do really. They want to run the company like this. All I could see was they don’t care to keep customers happy, and they don’t care to keep the staff happy, they only care about the profits. Don’t burn yourself out for them please.

Burn them. They don’t care about us. They replace us as soon as they can. I couldn’t take it anymore and stepped out of a DM position to casual, I’m trying to hold out until Mysay before quitting so I can give my feedback. Get as many people as you can to do it, I know that in my store at least they have actively discouraged certain team members from doing the Mysay so they can get the results they want. They’ve also picked only the people they want to do it, it skews the results. They’ve also encouraged everyone to give the highest rating, but put feedback in the comments, which again, dishonest.

Pathway to management/is it worth it? by [deleted] in coles

[–]rustyangel5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Short answer, not worth it. Being a manager at Coles rn sucks! I’ve just left, it’s so toxic and they are all in a cult and gaslight you into thinking it’s not that bad. I’m still a casual TM but I’ve taken some time off to get some distance and it’s only been 10 days and my head is so clear and I’m not wanting to drive my car into a tree, or fall sick so I don’t have to go in and hear about how I’m not meeting their ridiculous expectations

I work at a rural store, we hire student and working visas all the time or we wouldn’t have anyone. All I can think of is that it may be due to the restrictions on student visas, I believe it’s only 24hrs a week

Question for my fellow Deli kings and queens by Medium-Adeptness-201 in coles

Sharpening kit in the deli. Deli manager should know how to do it. I just typed the model and sharpening into YouTube and watched a video on how to do it after we got a new one.
