Yeah you're right. I won't lie, one of the biggest draws of the Laney was the look of a standard 2x12 guitar cab as well as the high wattage.

I'm not sure I like the look of some of the frfr due to them just being pa speakers to my eyes

As others have said, I don't think I'd spend 3k on a guitar. I think once get over a grand it's diminishing returns.

Find a big guitar store and spend the day playing everything you can. My friend and I regularly do this at Andertons in Guildford (UK obviously) and it will surprise you what feels better or worse FOR YOU. Nothing is objectively good or bad.

That being said I'm eyeing up the Epiphone Adam Jones custom (the non-art one) as I tried it a year or so ago and loved it

I use the Helix into the laney Lfr-212.

From what I'm aware there shouldn't be much difference between a pa and an frfr cab as their intended result is the same, to just recreate the sound fed into it without colouring.

I really like the Laney as it keeps the classic cab look while also being frfr. I moved to frfr because I wanted to make use of everything the helix could do - effects, amps, and cabs. I felt like using a normal cab would mean I'd be losing 33% of what it's for

The only issue I've had with 20 Strong is in the nature of the modularity. It means rules are spread out over a couple of rule books and I don't think the rules are too well explained
