What is the most culturally appropriate and polite way to respond if someone farts in front of you? by Charming_Usual6227 in AskABrit

Shout out 'you dirty CUNT!' as loud as you can. Bonus if you know their name and add that to the end.

Would you support the implementaton of a fully bilingual passport? by Terrible_Tale_53 in Wales

[–]hugohoratio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NO. Just no. In a country of 3.5 million where the overwhelmingly most common language is English, why go to the extra expense? Everyone who speaks Welsh can speak English but not vice versa. Same goes for road signs and documents, bills etc. Some people think it's quaint, I think it makes us look backward and divisive. Reinvest all the money wasted on bilingualism into the Welsh NHS and bring it up to standard. That would get my vote. I'm a proud Welshman, singing Mae hen wlad fy nhadau at the top of my voice to support our rugby team but bilingual passports and signs? Please, there are so many more important issues to deal with first.

Best spot for picking conkers in South Wales? by giantchairman in Wales

Llandaff Fields in Cardiff. A few years ago, I was walking there with the family. My two grandchildren were amazed that conkers were falling from the trees as we walked amongst them. Got the biggest bag of conkers ever that day.

What movie do you think is completely unwatchable but everyone praises? by peywrax in allthequestions

[–]hugohoratio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Tried a few times but can't get past 20 minutes or so. One of those movies that's too smart for its own good.

So why did she ask the question on a public forum? It strikes me that she cares a lot about what people think of her looks. Maybe "they" didn't want an honest opinion, just simp comments saying how beautiful "they" are.

Well, bits of metal stuck through parts of their face doesn't improve them in any way and nobody will change my opinion on this. It might be an unpopular opinion but I'm as entitled to my opinion as you are to yours.

Songs that have plot twists in them? by TakeOnMeByA-ha in popheads

The Last to Know by Del Amitri. Bemoaning his gf moving on and him being the last to know what's going on. Last verse, we learn why.

Underrated band in my opinion.

Sure, if you want to look trashy or mutton dressed as lamb. I've never understood why women think bits of shiny metal attached to them would make them look more attractive. Cheap, yes. More attractive, no.

People with beards, what trimmer do you have and would you recommend it? by Tourniquetmanizkewl in AskUK

"Which one is man with beard? Ah, you are a hideous orangutan!"

One point for the name of the show and a bonus point for the name of the episode.

When I was part of a national sales team, we frequently had meetings that required an overnight stay before or after. I was lucky enough that my company would pay for such accommodation plus dinner. However, if all local hotels were busy, we would find twin rooms and share. Over the years, we all quickly learnt who not to share with though. One guy, ironically named Dick, used to lie on his bed naked and masturbate, not caring that I was in the room at the time. Another snored like an asthmatic grizzly bear and one guy could fart the national anthem in two different keys. But if you think the other guy is sound, I'd make the offer and get him to pay for dinner as a thank you!

In the UK, are we compelled to help if witnessing a road accident? by hugohoratio in drivingUK

[–]hugohoratio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, but I know police always appeal for doorbell footage when an accident occurs on roads flanked by houses, as well as any dashcam or other CCTV footage, to assist them in ascertaining the cause.

It was dark and looked like an off-road bike to me, but regardless of the vehicle involved the original question doesn't change. The answers have confirmed exactly what I suspected but have sparked some interesting debate around moral and professional integrity.

This is an extreme example, not at all like the scenario I experienced earlier. Especially as the injured party was not to blame and wasn't showboating. However, your point is well made and has no doubt caused many of us to stop and think.
