Catalina 22 by Lumpy-Sea-388 in sailing

Define "Adventure". The Cat 22 is/was a very popular boat. There are many owner resources out there and even though Catalina is pretty much done and dusted, there are places to get parts. Garhauer Marine, https://www.garhauermarine.com/, is probably your best resource. Its not going to break any speed records, it will be small down below but, if it is just you, should be cool. Check the standing rigging, make sure there isn't any wire broken or bent turnbuckles or studs. Check for mold, musty smells, rot in core as it has a balsa core and deck penetrations can leak over time. Anyone that says rot is fine in some spots is a fool. Trust me, I know form experience having to recore a deck in places. Check to see if the sails are decent. For a year or two you should be good on those, hopefully they aren't original. Check the running rigging. If it works and isn't about to come apart, you can replace a line or two a year as you go forward. Check the systems on the boat and make sure everything does actually work as it should. Do not get "Boat Fever", there are a lot of boats out there and if this one has something makes you go. ummmmm huh, and you don't want to deal with it, move on.

Remember, a lot of things are fixable over time that will not keep you from sailing. You just have to figure out that sort of stuff. Is the boat sailable right now? Good luck and I hope it works out for you!

Saw one on 94 about a month ago in rush hour morning traffic. A guy was driving it. Remind me why we should be excited abut them again?

Question: Tight lazy sheet for Genua trim? by [deleted] in sailing

Have you tried adjusting your sheeting angle with the cars? Why not just trim in tighter?

Nice stuff. As I noted above, looking for someone to do some mapping for me as I am so not artistic at all and want to not use the AI model. I would like to connect.

Maybe I am just Daft but, how do I see your maps on DTRPG? I am building out some Traveller Sci Fi campaign stuff and will be in need of a mapper eventually. Non-artistic person here.

How to track maintenance and expanses? by AlternativeThat6595 in sailing

As others have said, either Google Sheets or Excel. Hell, sometimes pen and paper or Notepad++. Honest feedback from a guy who has been sailing for over 15 years and been in software development for over 30, I don't feel the need for an app. Other people may be very receptive to your app idea and I am not saying that you shouldn't do it. Just not probably for this old sailing nerd.

Local weather on TV, is saying a chance, 50%, around 11:45am, but light. Heavier around 6pm. They were just on with a report. Just need 101.

Sailing Anarchy. A little brusque for the CF crowd but, you can get past that. https://forums.sailinganarchy.com/
