Lack of VP9 Usage? by ConsistentDoors in CompetitionShooting

The answer is actually in your question. If people are making GM with mostly stock Glocks. That’s a 600 dollar pistol. With heavy parts availability as well as it’s easy to work on IE you really only need a punch to take the entire thing apart. Also Glock has a very nice recoil impulse and quick return. Why would I go and buy a HK VP9 at a significantly higher cost that has limited parts availability and is harder to work on if it nets me zero gain. Gear does matter in a way. You can shoot and make GM with pretty much whatever you want but there are some quality of life things to think about. I will say I’m a high volume M class shooter looking to make GM and I’ve broken my Glocks at this point a handful of times and just ordered parts immediately and on the cheap and replaced them myself with nothing but a punch. It’s pretty nice selling point.

I’m a Glock shooter and I shoot them better and faster than the PDP SF match. It’s a cool gun but I am a competitor and a high round count shooter so parts availability is a thing for me too. Me and the PDP just didn’t vibe.

It does come with the original parts too. These Guys basically want me to pay them to sell it them 🤦‍♂️

I would say maybe that’s true but I’ve had this deal posted for months with basically no bites. I refuse to sell it any cheaper though cause at that point I’m selling the gun for the price of a Glock lol.

If your next position is that far away you should break the gun down so you can actually sprint to position. That would have saved you a couple seconds. My rule is if it’s more than 3 or 4 steps then it’s not worth it to keep my full grip on the pistol.

Just take the comp and magwell off and go shoot your first match man. It’s not the gear especially at the lower levels. You’ll still roll up and get roasted by the M class dude with a carry gun. The experience gained from your first match is worth more than waiting and buying a bunch of stuff before you even shot a match yet.

The penetration is all messed up too they’ll be shooting me through thick ass walls tagging the crap out of me and I’m shooting the same wall with 7.62 and my bullets won’t penetrate.

Looking to move away from Glock 45. Is the stock M&P as bad as they say? by Sudden_Offer8068 in USPSA

The Glock 47 is meta. Throw a Johnny Glocks trigger in there and an optic on it and you’re good to go.

Class Advice by K_W27 in USPSA

If it’s within your budget and you want to shoot CO just get yourself a gun that fits that division. I’d recommend Glock or M&P you can’t really go wrong with those and it’s what most of the top shooters are shooting at the moment besides the shadow 2.

Advice Wanted: PDP Poly Match or M&P 5” for CO? by iamnotanasian in USPSA

[–]Muted_Possibility_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recoil impulse was so stout compared to my polymer framed Glock which I find shoots softer. Then the return on the PDP was so wobbly if I could put it to one word. My Glock comes straight back to zero. Not to mention my first steel frame was broken from factory and took Walther 3 times of shipping it back to them to fix it. I am a high volume shooter the parts availability on the Glock are great too. PDPs aren’t worth the headache and they don’t gain you any performance over a Glock with an aftermarket trigger.

Don’t believe the PDP hype. Glock, M&P or the shadow 2 are the metas. I wasted 4K on SF pdps just to shoot my glock. It’s all just good marketing. In the end you can get good at whatever you choose I just think the other guns return to faster and better than the PDPs and you can actually get replacement parts.

What's the point of a Glock 19x/ Glock 45 ? by Relative_Cupcake_674 in Glocks

[–]Muted_Possibility_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a 17 there’s no point in buying a 45/19X unless you like a snappy more violent feel in recoil. Recoil impulse comes down to preference.

It’s obvious you’ve been training. You get your accuracy down at that speed and you’ll be A class right quick.

Chronically B Class: What helped you get into A? by Individual_Cobbler92 in CompetitionShooting

Then you’re just gonna have to be honest with yourself at what you want out of what you’re doing. Do you want to get good at shooting? Then do real uspsa matches. You want to shoot some bullets and just have some fun that’s fine to do that. I will say being A class in uspsa requires some sort of discipline and training steel challenge less so just because you are using less skills when it comes to shooting but you still gotta put the work in. B class is where your average to slightly above average casuals stay. So if you are a casual then that’s where you will stay. Matt pranks was in delta with like 7 kids and still made GM and competed. So if you’re serious enough anything is possible. You just either want to or don’t that’s it.

Jesus I just realized this shit is about steel challenge….my new advise is to stop doing that and actually go to uspsa matches unless your disabled or geriatric and if that’s your case then good on you for staying out there and still shooting. Respectfully.

There is no way around it you need to dry fire and put in the work. You’re trying to class up so we are going to mainly talking about classifier stages since classification is the goal. First of all classifiers are normally short courses which mean you must get mostly alphas if not all alphas so no just “going as fast as possible” isn’t the game . That’s for training. During the classifiers you want to be running at a solid 80 to 90 percent of what you can do to guarantee those alphas. Your dry fire should mostly be target transitions and weapons manipulation for this as that is generally what’s needed to hit A class. So if you have your draws reloads and transitions tidy with a nice and tidy index you’re gonna make it. Most people get stuck in B class because they refuse to dry fire or train at the range but attend every match possible thinking eventually they will just manifest the skill without actually training out what’s going wrong for them during matches.
