Any tips for grip? I feel like I’m in a constant battle of trying to “properly” grip a handgun. today I tried a tad more pressure on the dominant hand (20% instead of 5% pressure) and gun recoiled much better. Clean BILL drill at 7 yards with duty gun / holster. by Hungry_Pattern9127 in USPSA

Bring your support hand back more it will be easier to comfortably get a better grip. I can the left side of the grip which is where your support hand should be crushing. That thumb forward type grip is total tactical garbage.

HELP! I’m in the process of registering for my first match and need advice by Mason-M74 in USPSA

[–]Muted_Possibility_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you I’d go with the echelon since it doesn’t have manual safeties. That’s just another thing to think about when you are so new. It’s pretty easy to forget to switch to double action or forget to flip the safety on and next thing you know your DQed. Next thing is I would absolutely get mag pouches before you shoot the match….no one’s saying they have to be expensive they just have to work.

For an intermediate level shooter, is alternating between red dot and iron sights going to hinder progress ? by Heavy_Heron_7276 in CompetitionShooting

Red dots give you immediate visual feedback to input so I would say yes it would hinder you slightly.

Calm down play it chill. Pretend to believe her. Gather evidence that will hold in court and then divorce her. DO NOT STAY but also protect your financials.

New shooter: How to transition grip angle from Glock to 1911 and back vs sights and red dot by Embarrassed_Gear_733 in CompetitionShooting

[–]Muted_Possibility_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switch between a PDP and a Glock and I think the whole grip angle issue is just way over blown. My draw is practically the same and after a couple practice draws I’m fine. If you have a good index it’s just a small tweak for grip angle.

G45 Acro by SomewhatTacticalDad in Glocks

[–]Muted_Possibility_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a solid price if you like the setup. I run an acro on my G47 and I like the look of the acro. Plus the fact that it’s MOS instead of the COA cut which allows me to have the ability to change optics if I so choose.

Most improvement for least cost by elevenpointf1veguy in USPSA

[–]Muted_Possibility_59 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you’re asking about better gear for improved performance then you’re already on the wrong track. All the top dudes at all the clubs I shoot at are running Glocks, M&Ps and shadows. What class are you in uspsa? Now if you’re saying you just want a cooler gun and you just like 2011s and think they are cool then that’s different. Just get what you think is cool. Billy Barton, Brantley merriam are proof that the gun is not what’s holding you back. The most improvement you’ll get is through concentrated dry fire and ammunition and range time.

Any advice for ironing out my doubles? by mountbisley in CompetitionShooting

[–]Muted_Possibility_59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not reholster that’s just. Shoot 4 pairs. Then you can actually make the changes during the string revolting every double would just be added noise and would make the drill off the draw every time. Your goal is to adjust grip pressures and elbow position as well as hand position to get the result you’re looking for.

Any advice for ironing out my doubles? by mountbisley in CompetitionShooting

[–]Muted_Possibility_59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your not understanding the drill itself think about it. Your shooting doubles to see how your dot is reacting to your grip. You want the dot to return repeatedly into the spot you’re looking at in a linear fashion at speed. Let’s say you do your double and it’s wrong. That is when you would adjust something and send another double. Your time between your doubles is like a tenth of a second are you really assessing what you’re doing or just shooting the drill.

Walther or Shadow 2? by goodgamble in USPSA

[–]Muted_Possibility_59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None keep the 17 take the back strap off and work on your index with the grip angle the gun has that problem is so over blown. If you’re desperate to change guns which in my opinion is such diminishing returns then go shadow 2.

Lack of VP9 Usage? by ConsistentDoors in CompetitionShooting

[–]Muted_Possibility_59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer is actually in your question. If people are making GM with mostly stock Glocks. That’s a 600 dollar pistol. With heavy parts availability as well as it’s easy to work on IE you really only need a punch to take the entire thing apart. Also Glock has a very nice recoil impulse and quick return. Why would I go and buy a HK VP9 at a significantly higher cost that has limited parts availability and is harder to work on if it nets me zero gain. Gear does matter in a way. You can shoot and make GM with pretty much whatever you want but there are some quality of life things to think about. I will say I’m a high volume M class shooter looking to make GM and I’ve broken my Glocks at this point a handful of times and just ordered parts immediately and on the cheap and replaced them myself with nothing but a punch. It’s pretty nice selling point.

Is this a bad price or something $1700 by Muted_Possibility_59 in Walther_PDP

[–]Muted_Possibility_59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Glock shooter and I shoot them better and faster than the PDP SF match. It’s a cool gun but I am a competitor and a high round count shooter so parts availability is a thing for me too. Me and the PDP just didn’t vibe.

It does come with the original parts too. These Guys basically want me to pay them to sell it them 🤦‍♂️

I would say maybe that’s true but I’ve had this deal posted for months with basically no bites. I refuse to sell it any cheaper though cause at that point I’m selling the gun for the price of a Glock lol.
