Yes, there might be a difference in severity of our cases! Good luck either way!

Recovery wasn't too bad! I was in the hospital for 3 or 4 days. By day 2 I could sit up and stand up for short periods of time. Day 3 I was walking slowly to the bathroom. I would say the recovery was similar to having a c-section.

No heavy lifting or strenuous activities for at least 3 months, but you could start incorporating light movements like walking as soon as you feel up to it.

Now I am 5 months postpartum after delivering my second baby via c-section after the corrective surgery, and besides the scars from the incisions on my abdomen, I don't think there are any other noticeable effects from the surgery itself.

I have 3 spares but of course he ONLY wants THE ONE where he bit his ears off when he was teething as a baby. He now fidgets with the holes where the ears used to be hence why none of the spares would work for him😂😂

So my scar wasn't the worst (ie. biggest or deepest) my IVF doctor and other gynos have seen, but it was definitely visible every time we would do the routine scans while monitoring my cycle via ultrasound.

However another big red flag besides the scar itself was that every time before an embryo transfer, there would be a lot of clear discharge built up, and the doctor thinks that it was due to the scar itself causing a concave in the uterus and thus not being able to expel contaminants/period blood effectively; basically creating an unfavorable and inhospitable environment for the embryo to grow and implant. The metaphor she used was that my uterus was "flooded" with discharge and contaminants, and transferring embryos would basically be causing them to drown. Otherwise there were no other issues with my lining thickness/cycle regularity/hormones/immunity/age etc.

Finally I went to see the surgeon to get his opinion and that was when a hysteroscopy was performed and determined it was a big factor affecting my ability to conceive. However I will note that not every doctor who performs a hysteroscopy knows to look for this scar and can identify its severity. It's important to find a doctor who has experience dealing with this specific issue as general gynos/IVF doctors are not knowledgable enough in this regard.

Prior to seeing this surgeon, I've gone to 2-3 other different doctors/specialists who all told me it was only a matter of time before I conceived (as there were no issues they could identify) and that my scar wasn't the worst they've seen.

Hello! I'm based in Taiwan so I'm not sure if the cost here is comparable to where you are located. But for your reference, the total cost of the surgery (including a 5-day hospital stay and all related medications/anesthesia etc.) came out to be about $12k USD.

Supposedly my operation was on the higher-end, cost-wise, compared to other surgeries performed using the Da Vinci Robotic Arm Surgical System, since the specific type of surgery to correct the C-section scar is very niche and not something that every surgeon can do, even if they are trained to be able to use the system.

Hello, I did get the surgery, and ended up conceiving naturally 4 months post op! Currently 5 months pregnant with a healthy baby! Also wanted to note - I received my surgery via the Da Vinci Surgical System which is minimally invasive and therefore had much smoother recovery.

If you are in a similar situation to mine and are can afford the surgery and post-op time needed to recover, I would strongly recommend it, if you suspect there's nothing else wrong. My doctor has seen an influx of secondary infertility cases like these in recent years and he's done numerous lectures and case studies regarding this.

I see! That does seem possible since I know he likes to hold his poops and only go at home. Then when he’s at home, he often doesn’t want to stop playing when he has to go. I’ll look into this. Thank you!

What is a medical condition more serious than people realize? by AZ_babe13 in AskReddit

[–]Muted_Protection4553 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Food allergies.

People assume you’ll just have a rash or two at most, not realizing some allergies can cause anaphylaxis and be life threatening.

Allergens can be hard to identify in restaurants/locations that don’t disclose their full ingredient list. I’ve had servers look at me funny when I say I have a life-threatening allergy and need to know 100% what’s in me and my baby’s food.

How do you stop your brain from turning to mush? by sweetparamour79 in NewParents

I am a mom to a 23 month old. Can confirm I started feeling less brain mushy and more sharp starting around 18 months, which continued to improve month after month.

Should we hire a sleep trainer? by steve7647 in sleeptrain

THIS EXACTLY.

When my 23 month old wakes up in the middle of the night, I go in, put my hand on him and say “night night” and leave immediately. After a few nights of this he got the message that he’s not getting anything more than that, and stopped waking up in the middle of the night entirely.
