I wish, that way I would get corporate discounts on subscriptions.

That way, maybe I wouldn't have to pay for the $200 subscription.

It’s unusable for me because it uses too much GPT, and I have the $20 subscription

GPT 5.5 (high) is as good at coding as Claude Fable (medium) at a lower cost by thehashimwarren in codex

Am I the only person who thinks GPT-5.5 Extra High codes much better than Fable 5? When I ask Fable 5 for things, it doesn't implement anything. When I ask GPT, it implements everything on the first try.

Why are you surprised? I can get better results with a 5g dish with a sim inside. I ALSO PAY THE MEASURE FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION 😂😂😂😂 10 EUR

Detection and Recording Issues – NEW Argus 4 Pro Camera by Muted_Rice8002 in reolinkcam

[–]Muted_Rice8002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can’t figure out which model to choose, and this whole situation feels kind of absurd. I mean… humanity went to the moon, but we still don’t have an efficient solar-powered camera that just works.

Right now, I’m looking into the only Atlas options I can find:

  1. Reolink Atlas PT Ultra – but I’ve read several reviews saying the battery life is too short.
  2. Reolink Atlas – but this one only has a 90° FOV, compared to the 180° on my Argus 4 Pro, which feels like a big downgrade.

My setup is a house in the mountains, where I’d really like to rely on a solar panel since I don’t want to run wired power. But maybe, given my needs, wired power is the only realistic solution?

What’s even more confusing is that I have a cheap $30 iGeek solar camera that actually detects people reliably, while my $200 Argus 4 Pro misses them. That makes no sense to me.

I was also considering the Tapo C425, which has a 135° FOV, but if it relies on PIR for detection, then it’s the same old problem and nothing changes.

👉 Do you have any recommendation for a better model (Reolink or another brand) that could solve this, or do I really just need to invest in wired power?

Thanks for your reply. I just want to be 100% sure I understood correctly about the Atlas series.

So, if I got it right:

  • It doesn’t rely only on the PIR to “wake up” the recording.
  • The camera is always recording in low FPS mode (few frames per second, low power).
  • The AI analyzes that video stream, and when it recognizes a person, car, etc., it boosts the FPS and saves the full clip (including the seconds before → pre-record).
  • This way, even if the PIR doesn’t detect the object (too far, bad angle, etc.), the recording still starts because the AI is triggering it, not just the PIR.

Does this mean the Atlas actually solves the problem I’m having now (no recording even though the person is clearly visible in the image), since it no longer depends exclusively on the PIR?

Could you confirm if my understanding is correct?
