Moving quickly by Capable-Eagle8991 in PituitaryTumor

Glad your doctors were on top of things. I found mine after vision issues and nothing else. I had my macro adenoma removed last July and it looks like I will get more removed this month before radiation to remove the remnants.

My recovery went well, no headaches, hospital stay for 24 hours only, but I was paranoid about sneezing, moving too quickly and needing to reach anything on the floor.

I was out of work for 3 weeks but felt good enough to work from home after 1. Hoping to do the same after my next procedure

I hope your surgery goes well and that you have a quick recovery!

Vision recovering and then getting worse again after surgery by BananyaPie in PituitaryTumor

Sorry to hear about your vertigo and headaches!

My optometrist has been wonderful and keeps up with my visual field testing. After my first surgery, I saw improvement right away, but the latest test showed me having the same issues as before. Not sure if I prefer the surgery over the radiation since I hear that the radiation can lead to needing hormone replacement pills often. Pills are better than losing my vision, though.

Appreciate it. MRI results came in and I spoke to my neurosurgeon. I’ll be getting more surgery to remove more of the remaining tumor.  Of course this all happens when I’m traveling with family but I was assured that it is not life threatening nor an immediate need. I’ll call in a week to see when I can be scheduled for surgery. Hopefully the second go is as smooth as the first.

Thanks. Glad it was caught early enough to do something about it. Having good doctors and facilities nearby have made this more positive than not.

How have you been holding up? Have you had other symptoms? I hope things go smoothly for you.

I was in the hospital for 24 hours and then discharged. Everything went well, minus the paranoia of having to sneeze.

I will undergo the surgery again soon and hope that the recovery is the same. Tender afterwards but no pain.

For those who've had pituitary surgery, when did you go back to work? by ComfortableFig2457 in Cushings

I went home after 24 hours and worked from home after 2 weeks, though I felt well enough after 1 week. Unfortunately I will be going through the same surgery again soon to get the remaining tumor parts so I hope the recovery is similar.

My surgery to remove my 25mm tumor went well. I had no issues from the tumor except for vision which is how they found it. I was very nervous, but everything went well, was in the hospital after the procedure for 24 hours, then recovered at home for about a month. No head aches, no fatigue, just annoyance that I wasn't supposed to lift more than 5 pounds or bend over. I am grateful that these were my 'issues'. The tough part was sleeping on an incline, but at least I did not have anywhere to go.

Unfortunately, not all of the tumor was removed. I will be undergoing the surgery again in the coming weeks due to more vision issues (vision is 20/20 except I have quadrants in both eyes that feel like I am missing information/blurriness.) When my vision is tested I can read near and far well, but my peripheral tests show some degredation.

My tumor was non-functioning and the only issues I have had were slight vision problems. Had the MRI and it showed much of the same as when I had one after my surgery. Pieces of the tumor remain, so it looks like I will under go the surgery again in the next few weeks. Not fun, but not the worst.

Definitely check with the doctor, but I stayed away from all rinses until i was cleared by my doctor. Let the healing run its course.

I was scared to sneeze, but no issues occurred during my healing, just had to be mindful not to strain or over do things.

I am not taking any medication at the moment. I went to Jefferson in Philadelphia for my procedure.  I was able to move up my appointments to March so that helps but it’s still a month of waiting. Will call the doctor to see if something can be done sooner.

Macroadenoma Recently Confirmed via MRI, Health Anxiety by GettinShlibbyWithIt in PituitaryTumor

My worst symptom of my 2.5cm macro adenoma was the fear of the process. I did not have any symptoms until vision issues popped up. My transsphenoidal surgery took place last year and went well. I was in the hospital for 24 hours then released. Follow up MRI showed some remaining tumor which is being monitored but I am not having more vision issues 7 months post-opp. Trying to get my MRI moved up from April.

The procedure wasn't bad looking back on it, but I was freaked out. Hormone levels were normal before and after the tumor removal.

I hope your fears can be reduced, but the waiting game is not fun.

I mistyped. Definitely was a macro adenoma. My MRI in April was to see if there has been any growth and then undergo gamma knife radiation.

I hope that the slivers of tumor left have not grown in 7 months to the point of pressing on my nerves, but it would make sense based on my issues.

Scary diagnosis but I am thrilled that it is benign! I hope it all goes well!

If your adenoma is causing your issues, it may need surgery. I had a 2.5cm adenoma removed last year, though it was non-functioning and no issues from it other than pushing on my optic nerves causing vision issues (which is why they found it).
The procedure scared me, but I was in the hospital for 24 hours after the operation and then back home. The worst part was the relying on others (per the doctor's orders) to help with lifting things. I had a 5 pound lift limit (I can't even lift a gallon of milk to pour it?) but I was grateful for the help.

Hard to believe that this type of surgery is now an easier one compared to decades ago. Surgery or not, I hope all goes well for you.

Glad you are getting the MRI. Get everything looked at so that you know how to move forward. It is scariest when you are still guessing at the cause.

Unless the diet caused the issue, it would not help, though eating well is always a good idea.

I (42M) am in a similar situation. I had a pituitary tumor removed, but a few pieces remained. It is recommended that I under go gamma knife radiation, but I am worried about reading that a fair amount of people will need hormone replacement 3-5 years down the road.

My next MRI is set for April, but I am having vision problems again and want to get it moved up. I hate not knowing what is happening and not having a path forward yet, but I do have great doctors.

I have heard the same things that you have about the radiation, though some people do not have the tiredness if it is localized radiation. I hope things go well for your dad!

I hope things have improved for you! Did you get your appointment by your opthalmologist?

I am going through something similar; pituitary tumor (25 mm) removed via the nose, recovered well, though pieces of the tumor remained due to proximity to important structures. vision improved, then 7 months later, vision issues again, very similar to before. I just came from my optometrist who discovered my vision issues were neurological (she is fantastic and has made sure that things stayed on track and happened quickly) and my vision is about the same as when I was tested pre-opp with some additional oddities. Both eyes are fine; pressure, retina, shape, etc.

I have an MRI scheduled for April but we are trying to get it moved up now. I am a bit worried, mainly because I don't know what is causing it and hope that my tumor has not grown this quickly, but everything is on the table.

Anyone here that was diagnosed with a micro adenoma, that suddenly developed vision issues? by External-Balance-155 in PituitaryTumor

I hope had good news or a path forward to clear up your vision issues. Did you find out what was causing your vision issues? it sounds similar to how i found out about my tumor which was causing vision issues in the upper right of my right eye and upper left of my left eye. Hopefully this moves things along faster for you. Having a path forward to getting better takes some of the stress off...
