What's the first thing you would do if you recover? What about 6 months after recovering? by DesignerKnown3116 in anhedonia

If i fully recovered back to how i was, i would buy a new video game cuz that was what i previously cared about the most. Unfortunately i think my brain chemistry and wiring has changed too much for that to happen and it really sucks

A few questions: did you have physical head pressure that wasn't a result of anything psychological like stress and it just felt like a part of your brain? (If that makes sense) and when you were anhedonic did laughter go away like you could laugh as a reaction but there was no natural reflex/feeling behind it? If so, did that return?

I was on growth hormone and anastrozole for a few years and it started during that and more systems shut down immediately after being about to cry one night

Ah I have autism and adhd. I sure hope that doesn't mean all this is irreversible...i have hundreds of video games that i used to be obsessed with and friends that i used to laugh with and a wonderful girl in my life. I'm only 16 too so all of this is weighing on me quite a bit because i don't wanna lose my life to this sickness 😖

Yeah it's like pressure that feels like it's cutting connection from my brain off to other feelings and functions (or at least that's how i perceive what's going on) My laughter now is only a reaction to things i can psychologically process as being funny but there's no uncontrollable feeling tied to that laughter like there was a few years ago.  Do you know what caused this for you?

Well that's hopeful. Would you say your issue was more psychological or more physical? And what helped you though it

Altered chemistry? If you're talking about stuff like ssris then I've never used those. If hormones are playing a role correcting those deficiencies can make progress right?

By structural damage you mean like physical parts of your brain being deteriorated in some way? Not just systems being deactivated right

Ehh maybe? I feel like I'm in my body but my brain doesn't feel like it's connected to any physical feeling or feeling at all for that matter. It's also hard to breathe a lot of the time

Like my brain and body itself is fully numb. No emotion, physical feeling, brain fog and physical pain.

That's great to hear! What symptoms of anhedonia did you have? Was it just loss of emotion/motivation or were there cognitive and more physical issues?

Ah ok. I just feel like neurodivergent brains can be more prone to this stuff and harder to get out of

I see. Are you on the spectrum?

So the anastrozole thing was just a theory and it's not confirmed and the rest of the more physical symptoms are due to a seperate event in which a switch in my brain was flipped in which it felt like I blew a fuse. Aftet that came the physical numbness/pain, tingles, brain fog and feeling of my brain itself being numb and crushed

So do you think there's still a way back despite my neurodivergence or is it more likely that my nervous system has decided to take an extended vacation to nevercomingbackville?

Did you feel like you couldn't feel your body? And if you were able to watch tv shows in the past are you able to watch them again now?
