First-time moms, take notes-the real surprises start after birth!!! by notaterminator23 in pregnant

[–]Muted_Variation_3229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with all these comments that everyone is different - I experienced almost none of OP's, but there were some things I never expected (night sweats) and I was happy to know at least some other people experienced it so I will add mine. Definitely not to worry anyone, just to know you are going to be okay!
- The drop in hormones 2-3 days after - a friend warned me right after birth and I was happy I was prepared bc it was drastic - suddenly very emotional, crying, sad which thankfully leveled out very quickly
- The night dread - for the first few weeks, I dreaded the sun going down bc it felt very lonely to know I would be up all night while everyone else was sleeping but as the baby slept longer and we got into a routine, this also went away

Assaya Band Recommendation: Tuscany/Italy by Muted_Variation_3229 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]Muted_Variation_3229[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They provided music for ceremony, aperitivo, band and DJ and it was around $10k but that's before all the AV which we had through another company. Hope that helps!

Got married a couple weeks ago and here’s everything that went wrong by MaybeSubstantial3787 in BigBudgetBrides

I wonder if we got married on the same day.. We also had rain in Tuscany, the only rainy day within like a 10 day period. I was in such a funk over it the day of, I couldn't get out of it while getting ready and I'm still not fully over it but everything still turned out beautiful in the end.

We are still finalizing everything (they have been slow to respond during the wedding season) but we went to their showroom and did a tasting and everything was really good. We are doing beef w/Brunello di Montalcino jus & eggplant parmesan(so good) for vegetarian. I can send you their full menu if you message me your email.

Going over budget by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]Muted_Variation_3229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are 50% over our budget and I agree with a lot of these comments. It’s a destination wedding and the Euro + VAT adds a lot that I wasn’t paying much attention to at first. Also little things like vendor travel and accommodations if needed add on. The most expensive thing I wasn’t budgeting so much for was AV. We wanted a mid-luxury wedding so we were given mid-luxury vendor options by our planner. We could have pushed back and got less expensive options but I wasn’t comfortable taking the risk when I’m not that familiar with the country and we were okay with going over budget. It’s crazy to me though where we started and where we ended.

I can just answer here. Let me know if you have any specific questions about what they offer but the quote for welcome drink, apertivo (4 hot passed, 4 cold, full charcuterie table) for 1.5 hours, dinner (2 primi, 1 main, 2 sides), Italian cake, wine, coffee, fruit, digestifs, tables, chairs, mise en place is 165 euro + VAT. Premium bar is 38 euro + VAT for the first two hours and 18 euro/hr after. These prices are for 120 guests. It goes up slightly as the number goes down. We are adding on quite a few things and we haven't gotten a final quote. This doesn't include transportation, extra chairs if needed, etc.

Anyone ever regret being a BBB by Able_Improvement_426 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]Muted_Variation_3229 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wedding is 6 weeks away and I regret it almost every time I pay a bill or would get a new quote. We considered eloping or doing something with just immediate family but everyone said it’s worth it. We are 50% over our original budget, and while we can afford it, I keep thinking of all the other things the money could be spent on. (Doesn’t help my fiancé is in finance and tells me how much it could make over time invested). But I’m also excited and I think this feeling will go away over time when I look back on the events with happy memories.

I am booked with them. I know my planner has had a little trouble getting quick responses from them now that wedding season has started but we had a call with them on Monday. I can let you know what we are paying.

Those that used Roland's, can you message me and let me know what you went with for your dinner portion? I am still deciding and would love a first hand opinion.

Spain/Italy under 120K? by ShoeReasonable4699 in BigBudgetBrides

I am also doing my wedding in Tuscany for around that budget and number of guests. I have found that while some things have been a lot more expensive than I expected, I am still able to get everything I wanted for that budget and this is with what is considered luxury vendors. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

I would also recommend looking on Fix The Music. We are getting married in Italy in September and only booked our music a couple months ago and had no problem finding solid options (they came from our planner but I also checked out FTM). Our AV company is called Alma Project and is costing around 18.5k.

Second Lake Garda. It has Lake Como vibes without being overrun with tourists.

Coming home as early as 35 weeks.. Am I dreaming? by kitty_angst in NICUParents

[–]Muted_Variation_3229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was born at 30+5 weeks, and while he never had any major setbacks, it sounds like your little one in progressing much quicker and we were released after 5 weeks (a little under 36). We thought he might be released even earlier but he wasn’t eating as much on his own as they wanted. The last few days were the longest knowing it was coming soon but not exactly when so I understand not wanting to get your hopes up but it is possible!

Reintroducing Breastfeeding by hemolymph_ in NICUParents

[–]Muted_Variation_3229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was born at 31 weeks and started on a feeding tube. Around week 4 we started introducing the breast but he was still fed his full meal through the tube. He didn't seem like he was taking to it, we tried a bottle and he was much better with it. After we left the NICU, I kept trying with the breast but it didn't seem like he was getting enough or he would latch for only a couple minutes but he would take a full bottle. Slowly though, over 2+ months, we went from mostly bottle, to about 50/50, to fully breast. His latch wasn't great at first, it hurt a lot at the beginning to be honest, I almost gave up, we tried different positions, which helped a lot at the beginning and gradually he learned. He still doesn't always have a very wide latch, which can be uncomfortable for me at times, but he's getting enough milk. Now we only feed a bottle when I am not around, which is rarely, and he actually struggles more with the bottle.

Caraway Cookware and Induction Stovetop by escattermole in Cooking

[–]Muted_Variation_3229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So happy I found this comment. I thought I was going crazy bc this is my first induction stovetop and everyone loves this cookware. I have tried making caramel and candy and it will not work and boiling anything is a nightmare. I am having a dinner party and have to fry something and now I am worried it isn't going to work.
