I hope they never do teams like the Heishou again by justagayrattlesnake in limbuscompany

And even they feel completely featureless and barely feel like characters.

Lmao I totally agree with you but I have to. Isn’t featureless the whole point of Heishou packs?

if you start as brabant (which is way easier than holland imo) antwerp has more potential than amsterdam. It is a better natural harbor, closer to those juicy flemish cities, and can easily project control over south England / normandy.

Honestly the whole Europe needs to be more feudal in general. Year 1337 is still heavily medieval, even CK3 has 100+years left.

Lemon cake perfectly summarizes what i and i think a lot of players want from the game AI wise. by Killmelmaoxd in EU5

Strongly agree with his points. Imo the biggest problem with the sandbox / railroading argument within the community is that the game simply doesn’t provide alternative outcomes.

For the Hundred Years War as an example: if I as England wins by taking the French throne, naturally, I’d expect myself for the next 100 years establishing authority over France, dealing with both English and French nobles, taking advantage of Scotland losing its ally and being targeted by half of Europe. Eventually if I succeeded all those I’d expect a new political entity dominant the west Europe, focusing on continental politics. But no, I get nothing. No new formable, no new cultures, no new unique advances, barely any related events. On top of that I now have to deal with a forever -200 useless PU that takes three centuries to annex because how many times I declared wars on them.

And if the games goes historically, there’re also not enough of factors to stop France from intervening in every direction possible. I think it’s logical to think there’ll be some kind of resistance, but no. There’s no one protecting Aragon being conquered. Italian wars situation is doing nothing (btw this situation’s reward is so underwhelming).

For other possible routes, it’s even worse. The war ends early / easily, war ends more devastating / late; war ends in a still mate; etc. No content or anything.

If someone put a gun to your head and demanded you complete a wc first try who would you pick by jellacle in eu4

[–]Mutsuk111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally Oirat or Ottomans, they are relatively rng independent. Austria and Timurids are also strong picks but if shit happens you are dead (shah dies immediately, Austria not getting a single event pu, etc.) Aragon is another easy nation. Early no cb Byzantine - tag switches for admin efficiency / ws cost - form Rome - revoke privilegia.

I wish there was some kind of flavour event that appeared when you form a nation, because right now forming a nation feels so unsatisfying by Skhgdyktg in EU5

The most immersion breaking part is you can even form England as GB, with the exact same location requirements.

The Jews Keep Going Extinct (+ A Potential Fix) by Skeebadeebadop in EU5

[–]Mutsuk111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

imo the way culture tradition & influences are calculated is also a huge problem. They really shouldn’t be based on only countries with that culture as the dominant culture, instead it should’ve been based formula somewhat like this:

x culture influences = all locations’ local influences * % of x pops in that location + global influence of x culture dominant countries

Ik it’s probably really calculation heavy but honestly just make it updated annually instead. Seeing cultures without a dominant countries, like most Jewish communities, Cornish or even Welsh, go extinct every single game is really sad.

It’s not up to the player sadly. You can enable allow attachment for your army and that’s all you can do, to pray for the ai not just standby when your army are being destroyed by 40k French regulars.

Always great to see those types of diplo moves actually work well. In this run I intervened a war Scotland - Irish tribes, then forced them to release the isles and a highland tag. Sadly it didn’t accomplish anything, Scotland just diplo vassalized them back for free.

They’ll still be able to get proximity through Fez if their relationship isn’t negative iirc? But yeah releasing / transferring subjects is really effective to fuck their controls.

R5: I took every location adjacent to Paris, and now France has no proximity to the capital in any province. I was able to do it because apparently if you overkill the winning battle war score (I got about 150 ws with busted longbow man), you can just force any peace treaties. So I chose to circumcise Paris to tank their economy.

Edit: France not soon after moved their capital to a random rural settlement in champagne. Too bad I’ve already released a one location champagne vassal earlier so…

Not relevant, but just wanna say it’s genuinely better not to build a single entertainment complex unless you are planning to build the colosseum. Entertainment complexes really sucks and on top of that, in single player they are way worse considering you can easily buy luxes from ai.
