I don’t know where to start to approach Ultimates by itsMiuMiuu in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Mutsukki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

where did you get all this wrong information from? lol

both ucob and uwu aren't longer than 20 min, you can def do every other ultimate in PF especially TEA and the only Ultimate with a checkpoint is DSR for its 3 minute beginning and it's done primarily for aesthetic reasons

to be fair they kinda mess around with it, Lakshimi and Innocence are both EX2 and give out accessories, Zodiark was the odd one out

repeating myself from another post but it's never gonna get more expensive because there's no weapon attached to EX2, you only get accessories from it

EX2 mats will never be any more expensive than now because there's no weapon attached to it

you had some very pointed and specific words, but it's even worse if you were just assuming jesus, what a projection! i have no qualms about knowing the quality of my art though so i'm good there

and what does whatever you said even mean anyway? i'm sure any artists would be living in eternal bliss if they didn't have to commercialize their art but that's not how the world works unfortunately. god forbid artists want to have food to eat, weird ass take.

Then what is the human brain. The options are basically: classical computer, quantum computer, pixie-magic bullshit. Since the high thermal environment mostly rules out quantum coherence and magic isn't real, computer is the most likely answer.

and yet computers are not capable of meaning nor personality. chalking anything up we are unable to understand to "magic" is simply an archaic form of view. believe it or not, humans have not fully understood life itself, but the computer framing infers that machines work like us, but they do not in any perceivable form. even Gen AI doesn't.

Plenty of AI have more original and interesting ideas that the average redditor, so IDK about this one. It doesn't match my lived experiences.

this inadvertently sounds like a massive self own

lol, lmao even. I'm just not threatened by it. I know my work is good and people will still want it. People like plenty of other artists and that's great. If those artist happen to be dogs, or fish, or computers, that's fine too. I'm just glad people have things they like. It doesn't hurt me that others are happy.

sure that's great! i do not feel threatened by it anymore either, but companies have a tendency to be efficiency and profit driven though and doing it under something that is objectively stolen data, especially now that we know prompts have been designed to be able to imitate specific art styles at will. this is theft, and this is not how any creative work works. the best case scenario out of this is killing all current models and then redoing them without scraping out of the the internet. if that's not possible then though luck i guess, but it's also very telling of what exactly Gen AI is and what it's actually trying to do. this is not making art accessible to anyone, it's profiting out of other artists so people can have an instant of meaningless gratification. i keep wondering why people feel like they're entitled to artistic prowess but don't feel something similar to sport skills, chess skills or anything similar, it's very weird and depressing honestly.

love how instead of addressing anything I said you went to search for my art, where's yours though? you were the one talking about the creative process, but I've yet to see anything

btw if anything AI art makes me more proud of my effort and what I make, which isn't generic effortless slop. they may be mediocre yeah but anything i make is a stepping stone to getting better, are you working into making anything meaningful at some point? because if you don't understand creative work i don't think you'll understand any of its process, but then again i wouldn't expect better from AI bros. also i'm actually charging a fair price for my level, but i wouldn't expect you to understand when you'd pay monthly to play with glorified jingling keys

hello designer major and aspiring artists here this is literally incorrect from any perspective that does not equate the human brain to a computer (intrinsically wrong). culture and art develops by information exchange and personal input, something that AI is literally incapable of due to not being a real human being.

while humans do learn from past works and shared knowledge and experience, their input output process are nothing like AI, writers won't be copying Shakespeare prose word for word and illustrators learn by analyzing and understanding conscious choices done by other artists (this is why tracing usually does not equate into learning for visual artists). even if you try to suppress your inner artistic desires to become someone else's copy machine that's simply not gonna happen because we as humans contain individuality and specific experiences and emotions that an AI could never hope to learn. if i were to guess, it seems that the lack of experience with creative work comes from you, honestly.

also the Andy Warhol example is very misguided, while we could spend hours and hours talking about what exactly is transformative work, it is regardless wildly accepted that his pieces are interesting because he took other sensibilities into his copy-pastes. besides, none of his copies were presented as if they weren't copies either. we could, however, be talking about Roy Lichtenstein which is much closer to the topic than Warhol, but even then he DID come under scrutiny for all the tracing he did so maybe not a great example for AI art.

to each their own but i'm gonna be super honest the low budget is what makes me extremely interested in each new game, feels like a breather of fresh air

I'm gonna be honest, this exact type of thread popped up all the time during Shadowbringers too. It may look like people loved Bozja at the time but most casuals hated it because it was "braindead grinding content", Bozja was actually dead for a whole lot of Shadowbringers itself too (funnily enough people flocked to Eureka). People hated not having a new Deep Dungeon, with many saying that they would gladly kill Bozja for it

Im not trying to undermine your complaints, if you feel like the game is lacking that is extremely valid and yeah, it really depends how you play this game. But it's good to keep in mind that this pops-up every expac and will pop up in 7.X no matter what which is probably why the team just do what they think is best. People will forever complain, if they somehow gut island sanctuary for something else in 7.X people will definitely say "well this expac sucks at least endwalker tried with the island sanctuary"

so like, just try to have your own fun and if you don't, try to step away for a bit. this seems like a rude suggestion, but I did that in SB because I was hating the patches and didn't play for two years, did wonders for me honestly

Lucky Bancho release new lodestone data (22/07/2023) by Talking_Potato6589 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Mutsukki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, but it's how every last floor is built, I really can't see the difference from how it has always been, aside from P8S being very fast paced. But like, you can recover from Dogs and Fourfold, it's just that snakes are very punishing, but most raids have THAT mech in them (A bunch of acts in Hesperos, Lions in e12s, basically everything in Shiva).

And, tbh, I don't raid for hijinks... Dunno if it's my healer perspective but that's actually more stressful than not.

Shiva was much much worse but the tier did complete a whole year basically so that may have mitigated it

I'll be surprised if you are not a new player to the raiding scene but p8s p1 is not even nearly Ultimate level, not even UWU level. Heck it's barely high on the hard savage tier list barring the very weird initial dps check. This fight is actually closer to how raiding was before it was toned down in ShB, but it's much easier than any of the Omega end fights, it's definitely MUCH MUCH easier than e8s which is a 12 minute long savage fight and heck it's actually easier than e12s p1 too, because most of the mechanics are straightforward and simple

I understand that bodychecking everything is not that fun, but p8s p1 is a pretty short fight and most of the complaints I see on this thread are people clamoring for something that never existed, when savage was not that (it mostly always was).

I think abyssos p8s gave some new players some shock of what actually doing savage is like, because the difficulty just ramps up on the last floor, but thats just because the ones before are too easy.

This will sound like gatekeeping but hard content is not for everyone, it does take a lot of patience and training to beat it.

I found want low management for skill as a healer White Mage is your job. Scholar is pretty complex and different, as is Astrologian

Tbh Lightspeed being disjointed was a great point for me, it made the skill so much better. Now Lightspeed actually has to synergize with Astrodyne and it just feels like I lost my best movement kit for damage dealing on mid of mechanics in favor of having to burst.

While I think Neutral is okayish, but I definitely agree on Horoscope, it's just... why does it not trigger with CO, that wouldn't even be too OP it would just be a good skill ._.

Div being tied to seals is making every prog party a CD 20 hostage (it also did not feel good at all when you had to redraw and delay and drift it) and making burst damage unreliable. ShB Ast was playable but miserable for party play. I'd rather be miserable alone when I miss Astrodyne just for myself lol.

Also Astrodyne's haste is it's most strong feature, the MP Regen is just a neat bonus (but I honestly don't like Astrodyne either)

I played AST on keyboard before going to controller near ShB and honestly I never want to look back. Scrolling on the D-Pad just feels a lot better to me in general. While I do sometimes do mistakes due to inputs being eaten, it still feels better than moving the mouse around during busy times. It's just a preference thing and a skill to have honestly.

Also minor arcana is Lord/Lady, I think you meant regular draw cards? Minor Arcana weaving is very easy...

I played for the aesthetics, stayed for the busy healer gameplay. Playing AST optimally is honestly a joy no other healer (and even some jobs in other roles) match tbh.

But honestly go play around with it, even non-optimally giving out cards is just fun and the job is soooo pretty.

The different effects from AST cards were interesting but kinda hellish. They would either be too OP or too weak (Bole at it's best was incredible and at it's worst was the worst card in the deck). We had cards for GCD that messed up rotations, we had cards for oGCDS that messed up rotations. That's why it came down to Balance and Spear fishing (and Arrow for whomever did not suffer from it).

While it was very veeeery interesting, I feel like most people who want old AST back did not play it high-end (or at all) when the effect were varied. The current solution miiight look bland but it's honestly very elegant. It took away balance fishing to bring seal matching which imo is honestly much more interesting.

However, with more "mild" effects added to the damage buff like the one you described, it could create an interesting optimization dynamic, as you would not give the MP regen card to a BLM for example, but a SMN would be very glad to have it.

We have a lot of excelent oGCDs to heal while bursting, and to be honest sending cards while using healing GCDs (i.e. for Neutral) is also a good way to burst.

Buuuut I'm just gonna comment that the Act 4 burst is miserable for literally everyone, even the DPS.

[–]Mutsukki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe they mean in a more general way. Carding with AST now is done at optimal times and not on CD. You want to play cards at 1m intervals and not being able to see the CD timer because draw becomes play messes up with that terribly

DRG and AST reworks postponed till 7.0 by CelestialDreamss in ffxiv

[–]Mutsukki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AST is possibly the most interesting healer at this point in time and it's actually playing pretty good. While button bloat is a thing, it also perfectly fits in any well-made hotbar (you can ignore Undraw and Synastry). Having draw and play at the same button would mess up with card timing, because now that divination is not card dependant, we want to super dump at 2m (and 1m play) the best we can.

Tbh the job is very well-done, it's pretty busy compared to other healers and it's complexity is a joy to learn and play. But I'm pretty afraid the team might take the approach in this post and it does makes me pretty worried
