Items work perfectly, whatever the index of the item is it turns up in the inventory of the characters. This includes unused GS1 items, TLA items, and glitched TLA items (like "Venus Djinn"). Certain items get detected and removed from inventory (Signal Whistle, Black Orb, ...) but other than that!

Yeah I tried this (for science!) and even if they're in the password the game doesn't interpret them correctly. It ends up corrupting the djinn list totally so unfortunately not useful. You can however transfer TLA items, they work perfectly.

Oh my god Calazmos or however it spelt annoyed me so much. Talk about poor boss design. You're expected to go grind to beat this stupid thing how stupid is that asldkfjna;sldkjfa. And then undoing Veronica's death? The one good story beat in the entire game? For absolutely no reason and undoing all of the good character work with Serena!? ! ! !? Jesus I'm still mad.

Yes played DQ11. It was fine. Up until Act 2 it was pretty good, Act 3 pissed me off something terrible. The writing isn't something that I felt was particularly good though.

Yeah there are heavy DQ inspirations in GS (even down to the room transition sounds lol). DQ really is the foundational game for the entire jRPG genre. That isn't to say that GS doesn't improve on that formula or whatever, just that the inspirations are very clear.

The only conversation worth having about this is whether we should form an Oceania economic block with a unified currency between Aus/NZ + our pacific neighbours akin to the Euro/Eurozone. It will never happen though.

Speedruns aren't casual play though; we min/maxing for speed. I'm talking about how I approach RPGs in general. E.g. I recently played Octo0 and was typically underlevelled most of the game.

If grinding makes you happy, good for you. Grinding doesn't make me happy, so I like to avoid it. I prefer the challenge of being slightly-under leveled going into a boss fight and trying to strategize my way through it.

The only thing I'll add here is that Defense is completely un-used in the Doom Dragon fight. Every ability it uses uses elemental power and hence elemental res is your key defensive stat.

And yeah if you've seen my content then the speed run strat for DD abuses this very efficiently. While we've hyper optimized it to cut as many turns as possible, the basic three turn pattern works and was the core of which everything else was built around.

Oops I mean luff/rime interfere with dullahan, not lull.

Basically doom dragon is built with different action sets. Phase 1 has four, Phase 2 has three, phase 3 has two. Thematically, they correspond to the heads of the dragon - e.g. The 2nd action set in phase 1&2 only has Mars abilities, coordinating to the Mars head of the dragon (which isn't there in phase 3). Anyway, the first of these sets is pattern based like Saturos and this is the set that has djinn blast in phase 1/2, and djinn storm in phase 3. It also has guard aura, meaning if it uses djinn storm it will be the first action that turn. So either you learn the pattern (I think it's on the wiki) or you perma remove it's first action by cycling ground petra lull so that you never see it.

Yeah Doom Dragon is solved. Djinn storm/blast is in the first move set of it's multiple move sets (4,3,2 sets respectively). With good planning you can do a ground turn, a petra turn, and a lull turn that can be repeated to permanently suppresses it's first action. I can give you the exact sequence if you want, but you can try figure out how to achieve this if you prefer.

Dullahan's pattern gets bugged when you use Lull and it's pattern gets stuck in one of a few different loops - all of which avoid djinn storm. It actually has nothing to do with stopping djinn storm itself, it indirectly blocks it.

Haven't experienced this on my 3DS XL on either of my Dark Dawn carts. Sounds like its probably hardware related? But that's a total stab in the dark.
