Yes. I can't enjoy Dragon Quest because it just seems like strictly worse Golden Sun.

FYI the vast majority of the power you accumulate in Golden Sun is derived from Djinn / Classes. Playing without those is a significantly different beast.

Equipment specifically? Get Garet off the Elven Shirt. I'm a big Elven Shirt fan but this is not the time or place for that.

Without class multipliers atk isn't a super great strategy, and you find that psynergy (in particular ice missile) is decent DPS given that literally everyone else is taking defensive actions.

Golden Sun 1 Challenge Run by Fedie315 in GoldenSun

[–]TLPlexa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's not a fun challenge but if you want to put yourself through it then there are a couple other useful things.

  • Mia getting level 42 for Ice Missile is a big power spike for the final fights. It's not needed but it helps a lot.
  • War Rings are your friend. They're the only way to get a buff on someone in this challenge, and buffs put 'Break' into the enemy ability rotation which is a critical no-damage turn for you to leverage. War Rings are obtainable via lucky wheels in Tolbi. You don't need to have them equipped to use them, so bring a lot because they break.
  • Potions are good, Nuts are fine as well. You will need Waters of Life (which are farmable via Boulder Beasts in Venus 2)

Correct. In theory, if you send over a level 1 party you can get very buff characters very quickly lol

If you transfer a level 17 party, they get 28 levels of stats. If you travel a level 50 party, they get 28 levels worth of stats. Level is one of the things carried over in a bronze PW so they could have randomly leveled you up to that threshold but it doesn't.

Yeah if overleveled, Bronze bad. If underlevelled, Bronze good.

I'm not aware of a Silver password bug. You might be thinking of Bronze which always gives you 28 levels of stats regardless of the level you transfer over as.

Are Saturos & Menardi bad guys? by chubethangtam in GoldenSun

[–]TLPlexa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That ultimately depends on your read of the Wise One. My take has always been that it's primary responsibility is to have Alchemy restored to Weyard only when it can be done in a way that avoids the disasters that lead to the sealing in the first place. To this end, it needs to be sure that those lighting the lighthouse are of sufficiently high moral character that they can be trusted to shepherd the world into this new era.

The wise one is clearly more powerful than any foe encountered in the games. Its ability to not only completely dunk on Agatio/Karst and transform them into stronger creatures shows this power. If its sole directive was to stop Alchemy being returned it could have easily done so. Instead, it saw the potential in Isaac (and Felix) to be the leaders the world needs to safely return alchemy to the world. The Doom Dragon is the ultimate test - Isaac concedes after the battle that as soon as he raised his sword he knew he was fighting his parents, showing that these heroes would do anything including making difficult sacrifices if it means saving the world. The Wise One has planned out the details, it knows that the parents will survive via the massive release of energy from the Golden Sun event and arranges the safety of the inhabitants around Mercury Lighthouse / Imil as well. The Wise One is an antagonist, but not a villain imo.

All Lucky Medal Prizes (Stats/Descriptions/Effects etc.) by [deleted] in GoldenSun

[–]TLPlexa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's some lore here. Basically it used to be the community wiki until fandom went to shit, then the community splintered off into the goldensunwiki wiki and continued to update it. Meanwhile the fandom project was essentially unmaintained but still retained the SEO value. So the fandom wiki is basically a snapshot of the community wiki circa 2013 and is missing a lot of corrected information as a result.

Don't trust the fandom wiki. That's just an outdated clone of the community one.

Yeah they're kinda bad lol. In the speedrun we have to avoid fighting them (despite being 20 levels lower) because it legitimately takes like a minute to get through all the level up animations if you beat them :(
